Il risultato, artisticamente inedito, unisce il valore documentario a un sapore cinematografico: rigorose vedute architettoniche dell'interno delle chiese, benché ribaltate rispetto al punto di vista abituale, ma al contempo un'indagine socio-antropologica, una narrazione dell'Italia di oggi e un ritratto della comunità cattolica.

La City of London Corporation è uno dei distretti finanziari più importanti del mondo e la sua architettura rende particolarmente visibile il suo dominio economico sul territorio e sull'intera società. Nella metropoli contemporanea, l'edificio più alto della città non è più la chiesa, come lo era nelle città antiche. La presenza simbolica della chiesa, che ha visualizzato il potere di Dio sulla terra, è stata ora secolarizzata. Le aziende stanno ora combattendo tra loro per avere l'edificio più alto per esprimere il loro controllo simbolico sul territorioIn relazione al controllo economico e sociale e allo sfruttamento del lavoro, Byung-Chul Han sostiene che i modi del neoliberismo per aumentare la produttività dei lavoratori è cambiato; al giorno d'oggi invece che costringere i lavoratori, il neoliberismo li motiva, sostituendo il "dovrebbe" con il "può". Questo discorso motivazionale a cui Han fa riferimento è presente quotidianamente nel gergo aziendale: "iniziativa", "motivazione", "sacrificio", "impegno", "miglioramento" sono parole che circolano ogni giorno negli uffici per motivare i lavoratori. In termini di produzione dei lavoratori, la "lattina" è infatti più efficiente del "dovrebbe". In relazione alla produttività dei lavoratori, il "dovrebbe" definisce e raggiunge i suoi limiti, mentre il "può" non ne implica uno predeterminato. In questo contesto, in cui i lavoratori sembrano avere una certa libertà per la loro produttività, Han mette in dubbio l'idea: "Sebbene il soggetto del successo si ritenga libero, in realtà è uno schiavo. In quanto si sfrutta volontariamente senza padrone, è uno schiavo assoluto. "L'idea secondo la quale la produzione di lavoro sembra non essere definita si riflette bene nella retribuzione complementare del bonus da parte delle imprese; in questo modo lo stipendio diventa qualcosa che non può essere pienamente determinato, e nemmeno l'efficienza del lavoro. In un ambiente in cui qualsiasi produttività sembra essere sufficiente per le aziende, e la produttività del lavoro non è determinata, i lavoratori sembrano essere costantemente sfruttati alla ricerca del successo. In questo viaggio incompleto, i livelli di stress, ansia, depressione, così come l'insolazione o la paura di non raggiungere gli obiettivi aziendali, sono conseguenze psicologiche e disturbi di salute mentale del nuovo sfruttamento lavorativo che il neoliberismo pretende di mettere da parte dal suo discorso motivazionale."Already but not yet" visualizza la vulnerabilità individuale e la subordinazione ai poteri economici, che tendono a ridurre la nostra esistenza a risultati di lavoro e accumulo materiale. Con l'obiettivo di esplorare i modi nascosti di sorveglianza e le condizioni di lavoro nella società neoliberista, questa serie sfida le rappresentazioni ufficiali e convenzionali della metropoli, trasformandola dalla vita mondana in qualcosa di misterioso.

This is a very good softcover copy with almost no wear. Completely clean. This slender catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition at the Barry Singer Gallery in the summer of 2012. One page of text describes what is known of John Albok (1894- 1982) born Janos Albok in Hungary. He worked with an old Eastman Kodak box camera and rarely exhibited his work. Illustrated in black & white with 12 images including covers and one loose plate either laid in or detached. The photographs all are dated in the 1930's and appear to show Depression era New York. Also laid in a signed letter from the gallery owner to a collector announcing the exhibition. 11" high X 8" wide. This book will be securely packed and shipped with tracking.

Bart Ramakers is best known for his mythological scenes, in which he provides a contemporary interpretation of classical legends and stories. In A Divine Comedy, for example, he created his own version of the New Testament, and in ?The Anatomy of Beauty? he explored his fascination with classical standards of beauty and purity. In his latest project and book, ?The Bride Unveiled?, he goes a step further: he deconstructs many of these classical ideals in a surrealistic story about a cardinal and a journalist who each in the end will find their true love, after a lot of surrealistic plot turns and art references to Duchamp, Mariën, Bacon and their likes. Once bared, the veiled bride turns out to be a woman of flesh and blood, purified and marked by real life, true to life. ?The Bride Unveiled? is a long awaited delightful gem, bound in red linen, stamped in gold and finished with a gold cut. It?s printed in 250 copies only, 50 of which are numbered and signed. Some 60 pictures (never published before) tell the story of a devoted cardinal and his twin brother ? the former reporter Linlin ? , each of them searching for their eternal female. The images, shot in Italy, France and Belgium, are full of humour, estheticism, narrative details, art references? and Bart?s colours were never as daring as in this project.

(ca. 18 x 26,8 cm). 1 Blatt (Karton). Original-Photographie auf Karton gewalzt, mit Bildunterschrift (Bartels, Photograph). Träger-Karton leicht fleckig, gewalzte Photographie gut erhalten. Insgesamt guter Zustand. Die Photographie wurde auf stabilen Karton gewalzt und hat ein besonderes Maß (ca. 9 x 23 cm) mit Panoramaqualität. Die Photographie zeigt eine Ortschaft mit großen Gebäuden (Schul- oder Industriearchitektur der Kaiserzeit) und zahlreichen kleineren Häusern. Im Vordergrund ist landwirtschaftlich genutzte Fläche zu sehen. Möglicherweise handelt es sich um Stadtteile an den Rändern Berlins oder auch um eine Ortschaft in Brandenburg/Preussen. Georg Bartels hatte sein Atelier in Berlin-Kreuzberg, Oranienstrasse. Er hat zahlreiche Photographien aus Berlin und Umgebung geschaffen, die die Entwicklung der kaiserlichen Metropole dokumentieren. Seltene Photographie aus der Zeit um 1900!
