I ritratti invece sono stati eseguiti a Roma a fine aprile.Fofi nel suo saggio scrive: "Se la libertà di Berengo Gardin è quella di muoversi nello spazio e così facendo di circoscrivere e fissare il tempo, la libertà di Paladino è duplice, quella di creare oggetti sapienti e densissimi (che cioè contengono in sè una pluralità di significati che rimandano all'inquietudine originaria, alla domanda-questione essenziale), o quella, al contrario, che ne rifugge, con una leggerezza che è fatta pur sempre d'energia e di movimento".

Proprio per questo si presta per testare con semplicità la resa grafica dei caratteri tipografici: tutte le lettere, subito, a disposizione, che si nascondono in costruzioni, segnali stradali e arredi urbani. Sono sottili, immobili, non urlano per essere sentite, ma sono ovunque.
