‎Rare et important ouvrage sur l'histoire de la photographie. Le 21 mai 1869 Blanquart-Evrard, lors d'une séance de la Société impériale des sciences, de l'agriculture et des arts de Lille, donna une conférence sur l'histoire de la photographie. "Son intervention comporte trois éléments essentiels qui sont : la réhabilitation de Nicéphore Niepce face à la gloire excessive de Daguerre ; la propre réhabilitation du conférencier malmené par W. H. F. Talbot ; et surtout un historique précis du développement des procédés de la photogravure." Publiée d'abord dans les Mémoires de la société, avec plusieurs illustrations, elle fut réimprimée en 1869 et 1870. Pour les illustrations, Blanquart-Evrard avait sollicité les différents inventeurs et obtenu d'eux des tirages de leurs anciennes photographies, des pierres lithographiques, des cuivres...et avait puisé dans ses propres archives, ainsi tous les exemplaires connus des Mémoires de Lille et des "tirés à part" de 1869 et 1870 sont différents. (Isabelle Jammes, Blanquart-Evrard et les origines de l'édition photographique française.)Une photographie de Maxime Du Camp de 1852 extraite de l'ouvrage "Égypte, Nubie, Palestine et Syrie", une reproduction d'un bas-relief avec le procédé Poitevin, deux exemples de Photo-lithographie par Zurcher, deux tirages du Musée Goupil, une photogravure selon le procédé de H. Blazer was a leading figure in the 'Underground Camera' and the radical GKf group of documentary photographers. "Blazer's pictures are stolidly conventional in any case; the book's radicalism lies in its design and the way in which the images are incorporated into the total graphic package. One could question whether it is a photobook in the strict sense but it is clear that the book's primary message is carried by photography and the graphic design -however innovative- exists to provide a framework for the photograph's display and the book's ideological message. Collaged and blurred, inverted, enlarged and cropped, the artist juxtaposes paragraphs of newspaper type with pictures that suggest his intent, but stop short of revealing a true purpose. The enigmatic and absurd landslide of images that inundate our daily lives falls across the pages of this book and are mounted like so many strange butterflies on every page. At times, even when we are sure of what is before us, succeeding and opposing images intimate that all is not as it appears. ‎Hedwig Bleibtreu war eine österreichische Theater- und Filmschauspielerin. 1891 trat sie erstmals in Wien am Carltheater auf und gehörte von 1893 bis zu ihrem Tod zum Ensemble des Burgtheaters. Sie galt am Wiener Burgtheater als große Tragödin. Auch als Rezitatorin machte sie sich einen Namen und besprach als solche mehrere literarische Sprechplatten. Beim Film hatte sie zunächst vereinzelte Auftritte im Stummfilm, nach Aufkommen des Tonfilms nahm ihre Präsenz zu. Ihre bekanntesten Filmauftritte hatte sie in Dreizehn Stühle mit Heinz Rühmann und in Der dritte Mann mit Orson Welles nach dem Drehbuch von Graham Greene. Einer der kommerziell erfolgreichsten Filme, in dem sie in einer Nebenrolle erschien, war der NS-Propagandafilm Wunschkonzert (1940). Anlässlich der Schließung der Theater zum 1. September 1944 nahm sie Adolf Hitler als unersetzliche Künstlerin in die Gottbegnadeten-Liste auf. 1953 konnte sie als Erste nach Bernhard Baumeister 60 Jahre Zugehörigkeit zum Burgtheaterensemble feiern.‎
