Maurizio Cogliandro, suo figlio, negli ultimi due anni di vita, fino al 14 febbraio 2005 giorno in cui si è spenta, l'ha accompagnata in ogni momento della malattia insieme alla sua macchina fotografica. Dalle attese in ospedale, alle cure a casa nel proprio letto, agli ultimi istanti di vita, ne viene fuori un toccante diario fotografico sofferto, intimo, delicato.Una potente testimonianza del legame tra una madre e un figlio nel momento più difficile. Cogliandro è nato a Bracciano (Roma) nel 1979. Studia fotografia a Leeds (UK) e poi a Roma. Riceve il Premio Canon Giovani Fotografi (2005), il Premio Pesaresi (2006) e il Premio Attenzione Talento Fotografico Fnac (2009). I suoi lavori sono stati esposti in diversi musei e gallerie nazionali ed internazionali.

It features the photos of Jack Smith stills from his film Flaming Creatures as well as work from famous Beats Allen Ginsberg Michael McClure and William S. Burroughs. The latter's influence on Bob Dylan was profound. This literary magazine was featured on Dylan's mantelpiece on the front cover of the album Bringing It All Back Home as per Dylan's request which is a testament to that influence that also made this one-off production an instant cult favorite. Prima edizione (First Edition). . John Cohen è stato un musicista, fotografo e regista americano che ha svolto un ruolo importante nella rinascita della musica popolare statunitense. E' stato uno dei membri fondatori della band folk New Lost City Ramblers. Negli anni '60 realizzò una serie di fotografie degli ultimi anni della vita di Woody Guthrie e dei primi ritratti di Bob Dylan al suo arrivo a New York, raffiguranti due titani della musica agli estremi opposti della loro carriera. Cohen ha ritratto uno dei grandi momenti della storia della musica popolare americana. Nel 1970, Dylan chiese a Cohen di fare un'altra serie di sue fotografie a colori con una "fotocamera che potesse scattare fotografie da un isolato di distanza" poiché, essendo già famoso, non voleva essere riconosciuto durante gli scatti avvenuti a New York e in una fattoria di quello Stato. Le fotografie sono state utilizzate nell'album di Dylan "Self Portrait".

"The music of Roscoe Holcomb transcended daily life. Although it was grounded in Appalachia, in East Kentucky, in his little town of Dais, his music travelled like it was on a path towards a distant star." John Cohen In 1959 John Cohen travelled to East Kentucky looking for what he calls "old music". Cohen asked for names at local gas stations but soon ran out of leads, and drove off the highway onto the next dirt road. Here he stumbled across Roscoe Holcomb playing the banjo and singing on his front porch in a way says Cohen, "that made the hairs on my neck stand up on end". And so by pure chance began the life-long friendship that is the background for The High and Lonesome Sound. Cohen visited Holcomb frequently over the next three decades, and made many photographs, films and records of his music. In time Holcomb, a poor coal miner by trade, became a regular feature on the American concert and festival circuits. The "strange beauty and discomfort" of his music &ndash; a mixture of blues, ballads and Baptist hymns, and unique through his high strained voice &ndash; was exposed to a larger audience. Nevertheless Holcomb died alone in a nursing home in 1981. The High and Lonesome Sound combines Cohen's vintage photos, film and musical recordings as well as an anecdotal text into a multimedia tribute to this underappreciated legend of American music whose every performance was in Cohen's words "not just a rendition of music, but a test of something to be overcome". Annie van Gemert laat een wereld zien die veel mensen niet kennen: het dagelijks leven van grote families - mensen met dertien, veertien of zestien kinderen. Zoals het gezin van Astrid (45) en Dirk (48) en hun kinderen Manuel (24), Michal (22), Noe (20), Jonathan (19), Tabitha (17), Miriam (15), Salome (13), Melody (12), Lydia (10), Jim (9), Stefan (6), Daniel (4), Ruben (2) en Rebecca (1). De zwart-witfoto's van Van Gemert zijn sober, ze wil de mensen vastleggen zoals ze zijn. Naast waardige familieportretten tonen de onopgesmukte beelden dagelijkse beslommeringen: grote hoeveelheden eten, afwas en speelgoed worden afgewisseld met bergen wasgoed, twintig paar laarzen en een dozijn tandenborstels. Om een divers beeld te kunnen geven zocht Van Gemert kinderrijke gezinnen met een uiteenlopende sociale, religieuze en maatschappelijke achtergrond. De foto's in het boek worden begeleid door een tiental interviews waarin de sociaal-economische en culturele context geschetst wordt waarbinnen grote gezinnen van nu zich staande houden.

Als ze openstaan zijn het net theaterachtige poppenkastjes. Ze kon er haar ogen niet van afhouden en legde de cabines en hun 'bewoners' vast. Boek is in goede staat.

Il est illustré de 21 photographies originales contrecollées dans chaque exemplaire - celles-ci furent prises et tirées par Émile Cohl dans son laboratoire du boulevard de Strasbourg, où, quelques années plus tard, il devait inventer le dessin animé. Avant d'être réunis en volume, les " Têtes de Pipes " parurent de février à juillet 1885 dans l'hebdomadaire Lutèce, fondé et dirigé par Léo Trézenik et Georges Rall -L.-G. Mostrailles. La majorité des portraiturés collaboraient eux même à Lutèce. Habituellement réduit à son seul statut de livre illustré par la photographie, *Têtes de Pipes* est aussi le chef-d'œuvre fumiste de la réclame et de la critique littéraire des années 1880. Deux photographies préfigurent les mouvements d'avant-garde à venir et notamment Dada : en guise de portrait de Laurent Tailhade on trouve une main tenant une rose entre ses doigts tandis que pour celui de Léon Cladel c'est une oreille bouchée avec du coton. Bel exemplaire, broché, de ce livre autant rare que fragile.
