SILENT FILM EARLY CINEMA Jane Shore
London: Barker Motion Photography 1915. First Edition. Sewn binding disbound. Good-. Oblong large octavo unpaginated 35pp. A good copy at best in the publisher's swen wraps with yapped edges. Edges cuopped and the sewing missing thus the book is laid-into the wraps. The contents themselves are in lovely condition and we presume it is complete although of this we can't be completely sure. A wonderful promotional booklet for the 1915 adaptation of the story of Jane Shore starring Blanche Forsythe and Roy Travers. Of the 35 leaves printed rectos only 29 are comprised of 6" x 5" 150mm x 125mm photographic prints tipped onto leaves with black borders and captions. These prints depict shots from the motion picture. The brief text gives the story's background the cast etc. We were unable to locate the pamphlet in broad searches in OCLC indicating a highly ephemeral and scarce document of early silent film. Though regrettably disbound still wuite clean and presentable; a wonderfully visual and engaging remnant of early cinema promotion. Barker Motion Photography unknown

First edition second printing. About 10 x 12 inches unpaginated 50 full color full page illustrations on heavy stock with a foreword by Patti Smith and a list of plates. Photo selection and design by Dimitri Levas. Front cover illustration is "Calla Lily 1988." Back cover contains blurbs from reviews as well as quote from Smith's foreword. Front cover shows only touch of wear at corners. No tearing scratching bumping or creasing. Text is similarly free of noticeable damage or flaws. Clean complete unmarked. Also contains over 250 full-color photos and 105 in b & w. Bound in dark-blue cloth-covered boards with white lettering on spine. Pictorial dustjacke's front panel shows series of photos of Colt presentation pistols and revolvers and of Samuel Colt with black lettering against grey background. Back panel displays photos of presentation 1851 Navy Colt to Czar Nicholas I in 1854 and presentation Colt Python .357 for Colt Board Chairman George Strichman. Please note: This copy is ex-library from a public library's reference department. It has library markings on text edges and end papers and gllue residue on fep where card pocket was removed. O/w the book and dj were well-protected by a heavy-duty Brodart protector and show only minimal surface and edge wear. No bumped corners no chipped spine ends no creases or scratches on dj. It is complete clean and unmarked. Makes a very useful very good-looking but economical reference work for a private library.
