Frank Paulin (1926- ) was born in Pittsburgh and by the end of the 1950's was studying at the New School under the renowned art director Alexey Brodovitch. In 1957, Paulin celebrated his first solo artist exhibition at the Limelight Gallery. This book shows Frank Paulin's work to be in the same genre as other New York School photographers of the 1950's and 60's. All photographs reproduced in black & white. Superb book. Essay by Melissa Kuntz. Scott Peterman's color photographs of ice fishing shacks in Maine and New Hampshire are hauntingly beautiful. Spare large photographs with a small ice shack made of wood, sometimes painted, at the center. No people or animals.
