Amicable correspondence with the Konstanz dentist and composer Alfred Schlenker (1876-1950) and his wife Martha, reporting on his travels, his wish to see them, his health, his family, and his artistic work. - "Der Sommer holt noch etwas vom Versäumten nach, das ist gut. Aber in Lugano stehen die Fremden einander auf den Zehen, alles ist unleidlich überfüllt. Die Autocars aus aller Welt stehen Schlange [...]" [postmarked Zug, 1953]. - "Mit dem in Osnabrück abgebrochenen Stück Zahn konnte ich nicht, wie ich damals wollte, gleich zu Ihnen kommen, da ich inzwischen auf dieser merkwürdigen Reise auch noch um meinen Blinddarm gekommen bin [...]" [postmarked Frankfurt, 29 Nov. 1909]. - "Das was das Radio neulich gesendet hat, war eine von mir 'besprochene' Platte. Falls Sie einen Apparat für Langspielplatten besitzen und es wünschen, bekommen Sie diese Platte von mir geschenkt [...]" (postmarked Zug, 9 July 1959). - "[Das Kölner Hessearchiv] wurde vor einigen Jahren ohne mein Wissen und sehr gegen meinen Geschmack von einem ehrgeizigen Mann [...] gegründet, und ich habe Zeitlang gegen ihn Nachsicht geübt [...] Aber bald wurde dieser Mann so lästig und aufdringlich, und hat namentlich alle meine Freunde, deren Adressen er erschnüffelte, so frech und rücksichtslos ausgenützt, ihnen Briefe von mir abgeschwatzt [...] dass ich ihn durch meinen deutschen Rechtsanwalt warnen lassen musste [...]" (annotated by a collector: "postmarked Montagnola 27 April 50"). - The 12-line poem "Nachtgefühl" includes an autograph watercolour. Anthologie von Kalendersprüchen (Natur- und Witterungsereignisse, Verrichtungen etc.) für jeden Tag des Jahres, sämtlich im Stil von "Jurende's vaterländischem Pilger", der bis zu seiner Einstellung 1852 in seinem Kalenderteil eine eigene Spalte für den "Naturkalender" führte, "wo jedem Tage eine kleine Bemerkung [...] beygegeben ist" (Jahrb. der Literatur 1818.4, Anzeige-Blatt S. 76). Es scheint hier ein Entwurf für den Naturkalenderteil des Jahrgangs 1836 vorzuliegen, der aber noch redaktionell umfassend bearbeitet und umgestellt worden wäre. Nicht signiert, jedoch am hinteren Innendeckel von späterer Sammlerhand bezeichnet und im Schriftbefund stimmig. Eine Tätigkeit des jungen Rollett als Kalenderspruchlieferant wäre bislang nicht bekannt; 1835/36 war der Badener Arztsohn noch Schüler am Wiener Piaristengymnasium. - Der Vormärz-Lyriker Rollett wurde wegen revolutionärer Gesinnung polizeilich verfolgt, floh 1845 nach Deutschland und später in die Schweiz. 1854 vorübergehend nach Österreich zurückgekehrt, promovierte er 1857 in Gießen zum Dr. phil. und studierte später Pharmazie in Wien. Rollett gehört neben Moritz Hartmann und Hermann Jellinek zu den bekannteren Vertretern der Bewegung "Junges Österreich" und bekannte sich zum Deutschkatholizismus. - Broschur etwas angestaubt und mit Randläsuren.‎

Der hier vorliegende Nachlass umfasst nicht nur die gesamte eigene Lebensspanne von "Fräulein Gusti Adler" - eine Anrede, auf die sie stets höchsten Wert legte -, sondern reicht in noch tiefere Vergangenheit, nämlich in die Jugend ihrer Eltern und Großeltern. Schon durch seinen beeindruckenden Umfang - allein schon die über Jahrzehnte hinweg mit Helene Thimig geführte Korrespondenz umfasst etwa 1040 Schreiben - dokumentiert er die mannigfaltigen und weitreichenden Interessen, die sich von eigener literarischer Arbeit und Übersetzungstätigkeit über Malerei, Theater und Film bis hin zu Reisen erstrecken. Adlers akribischer Sammelleidenschaft sei es gedankt, dass wir nicht nur mit Reisetagebüchern, -notizen und -erinnerungen, sondern auch durch eigene Anschauung mit Hilfe von unzähligen Fotos ins Italien der 1890er bis 1970er Jahre, durch die Bergwelt Mitteleuropas der 1910er Jahre, durch das Europa vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, durch Guatemala, Mexiko, Hollywood, San Francisco und New York in den 1950er Jahren, nach Italien und in die Türkei der 1960er Jahre und schließlich ins Venedig der 1970er Jahre reisen können. - In Briefen, Tagebüchern und Aufzeichnungen, Notiz- und Adressbüchern werden nicht nur die frühen ersten Jahre in Salzburg, d. h. der Salzburger Festspiele, wieder lebendig ("sehr interessante Briefe v. mir über 1. Salzburger Zeit (Bahr, Zweig, Faistauer etc.)", so ihre Beschriftung auf einem Umschlag), sondern auch die Jahre vor und nach der Emigration, zumal nicht nur sie selbst, sondern auch ihre im weiteren Sinne engste Familie emigrierte: neben Mutter und Schwester auch Max Reinhardt, Helene Thimig und zahlreiche andere aus Reinhardts Umfeld; ein Brieftyposkript, das "für Marianne … geschrieben" wurde, und Reisetagebücher erzählen von dieser "Reise nach Amerika". - "Workshop-Notizen" beleuchten weiters die Jahre von 1939 bis 1941, in denen Adler weiter für Reinhardt und für dessen Workshop of Stage, Screen and Radio tätig war. Korrespondenzen, Briefentwürfe, Notizen, aber auch Photos, Zeitungsausschnitte, Filmmagazine und nicht zuletzt ihr Firmenausweis geben Auskunft über die beinahe vier Jahrzehnte lange Tätigkeit für Warner Bros. und runden ein bewegtes Leben ab, das in den Hauptstädten zweier Monarchien begann, mit Max Reinhardt über viele europäische Bühnen führte und schließlich in den Hollywood Hills sein Ende fand. - Gusti Adler, 1890 in Brixen geboren, war die Tochter der Malerin Maria Adler und des Gutsbesitzers und späteren Journalisten Heinrich Adler, dem Bruder von Victor Adler, des Begründers der Sozialdemokratischen Arbeiterpartei; ihre Schwester war die Künstlerin und Restauratorin Marianne Adler. Nach einer Ausbildung zur Bildhauerin bei Richard Kaufungen in Wien wechselte sie zu Malerei und Kunsthandwerk über und schrieb seit 1913 Artikel für das Feuilleton des "Wiener Fremdenblatts". Nach ihrer Übersiedlung nach Berlin schrieb sie unter dem Pseudonym Christoph Brandt für Wiener und Berliner Zeitungen und gab Schriften von Jean Paul und Georg Forster heraus. - Durch Vermittlung ihrer Jugendfreundin Helene Thimig lernte sie 1919 Max Reinhardt kennen und wurde wenig später für zwei Jahrzehnte dessen Privatsekretärin und, mehr noch, dessen rechte Hand, die nebst vielen privaten Dingen für Reinhardt auch einen Großteil von dessen Inszenierungen organisierte, vor allem bei den Salzburger Festspielen. - 1939 folgte sie Reinhardt in die USA und arbeitete an dessen "Workshop for Stage, Screen and Radio" mit. Nach Reinhardts Tod im Oktober 1943 arbeitete sie bis zu ihrem 80. Lebensjahr in der Dokumentationsabteilung von Warner Bros. in Hollywood. - 1946 erschien ihr Buch "Max Reinhardt - Sein Leben", 1980 folgte "… aber vergessen Sie nicht die chinesischen Nachtigallen". Gusti Adler verstarb 1985 in Hollywood.‎

‎4to. 3 pp. on bifolium with integral address panel. A Latin letter addressed to his friend, the classical scholar Christian Gottfried Schütz, on a question of ancient pedagogical literature: "Quaeritur de mathemate paedagogico-literario". - Niemeyer is intent on tracking down a reference he has found to an (apparently lost) work of Cato the Elder, On the Education of Children. Niemeyer cites references to this spurious work in the writings of Macrobius and Italian humanist Maffeo Vegio. His frustration in the hunt for what he would consider a valuable contribution to ancient discourse on pedagogy is apparent in the exasperated formulation of his questions to Schütz: "Unde, quaeso, haec hausit Vegius? Num saeculo quo floruit XV adhuc extitit Catonis scriptum? An in Stobaeo aliquo romano (mihi quidem ignoto) fragmentum reperit?" ("Where, I ask you, has Vegio got this from? Did Cato's text really still exist in his (Vegio's) time? Or did he find a fragment somewhere in a Roman Stobaeus (very much unknown to me!)?"). Niemeyer finishes by calling on Schütz's expertise for assistance: "Ad tuum, doctissime Schützi, in divinando acumen confugio" ("I thus take refuge, most learned Schütz, in your critical acumen"). - Six years earlier, Niemeyer had published a collection of ancient texts (with notes and German translations) on the theory of pedagogy which he had dedicated to Schütz. His interest in the Greek and Roman didactic practice formed part of Niemeyer's wider project as an educationalist. Among the best-known products of his work in this field was the monumental "Grundsätze der Erziehung und des Unterrichts", which saw numerous editions and translations. In this Latin letter we thus are afforded a glimpse into the detailed historical and philological work that went into the development of Niemeyer's thought as a educational theorist. - The letter is heavily spotted with browning and foxing throughout. There is a small tear (with evidence of later repair) from seal opening on the counter-leaf. Evidence of later collectors on the first folio. Cf. To the publisher Maurice Lachâtre, detailing his conditions for an envisaged biography of Karl Marx and a history of the Communist Party: "Dans votre lettre du 16 mars, vous paraissez croire que 'je vous présente un livre sur le parti communiste' tandis que c’est vous qui, en me demandant d’écrire une biographie sérieuse de Marx, m’aviez demandé l’histoire de ce parti. Marx ayant mené une vie essentiellement active, raconter sa vie, c’est faire l’histoire du mouvement philosophique & révolutionnaire allemand & international depuis 1842 pour y tracer sa participation personnelle & l’influence de ses écrits. Si vous ne désirez qu’une biographie de reporter, c’est déjà fait. L’Illustration en a publié une, & si vous m’en envoyez un exemplaire, je suis prêt d’y faire les corrections nécessaires. L’étude que je comptais faire devant être un travail sérieux, j’aurais cru vous faire injure en supposant que vous qui dans cette affaire commerciale prenez le rôle de capitaliste, vous auriez voulu échapper à cette première règle sociale, appliquée même dans notre société bourgeoise, que le capitaliste paie le travailleur proportionnellement à son travail. Cependant, comme vous dites que vous n’agrandissez votre capital que pour le mettre au service de la communauté, je consens à donner mon travail, à la condition que vous consacrerez une somme à la fondation d’un organe international hebdomadaire dont le besoin est impérieux pour le parti, & que Marx rédigerait [...]". As he led an essentially active life, to recount Marx's life is to write the history of the German and international philosophical and revolutionary movement since 1842, so as to trace his personal participation and the influence of his writings. If you just expect a reporter's biography, that has already been done. 'L'Illustration' published one and if you send me a copy of it I am willing to do the necessary corrections. The study that I hoped to undertake must be a serious work. I would have believed to have wronged you in supposing that you, who in this commercial matter takes the role of the capitalist, would have wished to escape from that first social rule which is applied even in our bourgeois society that the capitalist pays the worker in proportion to his labor. However, since you say that you only increase your capital in order to allocate it to the community, I consent to give my labour under the condition that you will grant a sum to the foundation of an international weekly organ that is urgently needed by the party and that Marx would edit [...]"). - In a letter to Lachâtre from 16 March 1872, Engels had quite enthusiastically agreed to the project in principle but urged the publisher to set out his conditions. The response apparently left Engels dissatisfied. Although he was still willing to collaborate with Lachâtre, the project never came about. The present letter reveals the interesting detail that Engels planned to publish a weekly organ for the First International with Karl Marx as editor. Between 1872 and 1875 Maurice Lâchatre published the first French translation of "Das Kapital" and was therefore in close contact with Marx. - Slightly creased with traces of dog-ears to the lower corners. Not in: Marx/Engels, Werke vol. 33 (Briefe Juli 1870 - Dezember 1874).‎

Sa santé a été detruite par les fatigues de l'armée de Portugal [...] Si vous nous accordes son passage au 24ème d'infanterie legere, consenti par le major du 26ème de ligne, demandé par le colonel Belair, il pourra rebastir sa santé, a devenir un excellent officier lorsque son tems de service. Old red secretarial stamp at the head of the letter. - Lafayette, a close friend of George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, and Thomas Jefferson, was a key figure in the French Revolution of 1789 as well as of the July Revolution of 1830. He fought in the American Revolutionary War, holding senior positions in the Continental Army, and was one of the victorious commanders at the Siege of Yorktown. In 1789, with Jefferson's assistance, he co-wrote the French "Declaration of the Rights of Man", inspired by the U.S. Declaration of Independence.‎

The division will be equipped with the 12th and 14th garrison of the flotilla and on its arrival at Cherbourg it will remain without any special commander. As the simultaneous departure of such a number of ships would cause inconveniences, Napoléons asks Count Batte to organize the departure in sections of 3, 6 or 9 ships and to send off such a number one after the other as the circumstances will allow him to. Napoléon is convinced that he has to facilitate the passage. He asks Count Batte not to leave Boulogne until at least half of the totality of the ships will have appeared and his activities will be confirmed to him. Napoléon tells Count Batte to make sure not to miss any occasion to increase the departure of sections of the flotilla taking into consideration that the season is still very favourable for this movement and that any delay could cause an infinite retardation of success. Napoléon informs Count Batte that upon his arrival at Cherbourg the Ministry of the Navy will address him with instructions concerning the task that he has to fulfill and concerning the ultimate destination of this important part of the flotilla. I. To an unidentified friend (19 Dec. 1865), reflecting on Lachâtre's proposal for a History of Paris in 10 volumes. This should not be a slovenly work of three or six months, and Blanc's way of working, his "literary religion", too, makes it a hard task. Blanc does not like to be tied up for such a long time, and he is afraid of missing documents: "1° Il n'y a pas à parler d'un volume bâclé en trois mois, ou même en six. Mon habitude de faire les choses consciencieusement et, si je puis ainsi parler, ma religion littéraire m'interdisent cet espoir; c'est donc une lourde tâche à entreprendre; 2° Je répugne à me lier les mains d'avance pour un laps de temps aussi considérable; 3° Je crains de manquer de documents [...]". Blanc also mentions that he has to finish a "Histoire des salons" for Lacroix by October 1866. - II. Possibly to Maurice Lachâtre (30 Dec. 1867), sharing the recipient's satisfaction: "Cette satisfaction, je la partage, ne désirant rien tant que de voir se répandre parmi le peuple des vérités historiques qu'on n'a que trop réussi à mettre sous le boisseau, et comptant pour cela sur cette science de la publicité que vous possédez [...]". - III. To (the unnamed) Lachâtre (31 Dec. 1867), refusing the proposal of a library edition and of an edition format Charpentier, because the proposed price is "humiliant" ("humiliating"). For the illustrated edition, Blanc accepts a low price, and he transmits his brother's fair comment on the engravings which are done in a spirit completely contrary to the book: "Mon frère m'écrit que beaucoup des gravures qui sont en votre possession ont été inspirées par un esprit tout contraire à celui dans lequel mon livre a été écrit [...]". - IV. To (the unnamed) Lachâtre (8 Feb. 1873): Blanc had not been given Lachâtre's dossier and does not know about the expenses for the recipient, and asks whether he could be of any help: "Puis-je vous être utile? […] Si vous pouvez faciliter la publication du premier de ces deux opuscules, je crois que vous rendrez service à la cause [...]" ("Our mutual friend F. De même que je considère comme un devoir de donner mon expérience professionnelle quand on se bat [...]" ("I have asked your support of your professional experience for the collaborative work, nothing else. In the same way as I consider it to be my duty to give my professional experience, if man fights [...]"). - He urges Lachâtre to come to see him on Sunday, they could spend the day in the country side and Cluseret would invite two or three Communards (3rd letter, n. p. o. d.): "Si vous pourriez venir une Dimanche, nous pourrions passer ensemble la journée à la campagne. J'inviterai deux ou trois bons communards [...]". - Cluseret notes the fifth number to be as everything else of him neither of a master's nor a pupil's hand, but his own. There was never a price fixed for it, because they do not want to sell it. As poor as they are, Gambon, Fesneau and himself, they are doing everything on their own expenses, taking it from their necessity to do propaganda (4th letter, n. p. o. d.): "Le n° 5 comme toutes les autres sort de ma plume qui n'est celle ni d'un maître ni d'un élève, mais mienne. Quand au prix, il n'y en a jamais eu de fixé, parce que nous ne le vendons pas. He passes through their calumnies (bad moral conduct, treason, malpractice), contests their fictions (his nationality in doubt), and submits proofs and documents on his moral conduct, quoting politicians, officers or French and American writers, who witness respectfully his services: marshal Randon, the generals Colson, Renault, Cosenz, McClellan, Schenck, von Steinwehr, Bohler, Sigel, as well as Alphonse Esquiros, Léon Gambetta, Henri Martin, Carl Schurtz, Edwin Stanton, Thaddeus Stevens, Charles Sumner, etc. Cluseret finds moral cowardice among men who have a seat in the Assembly of Versailles and at the senate: "ils ont voté des remerciements à l'armée qui massacrait leurs électeurs [...]" ("They have proposed acknowledgements for the army who slaughtered their voters [...]".) Cluseret compares them derogatorily to their foreign counterparts. "En France, un seul homme me tendit la main ce fut Victor Hugo. Il m'écrivait de Bruxelles à Genève une lettre se terminant ainsi: 'Je n'aurai pas pris part à votre triomphe, mais je m'enveloppe dans votre linceul!' La solidarité humaine en dehors et au-dessus des partis, le respect de la liberté d'autrui et du caractère privé de l'adversaire politique voilà ce qui constitue ou plutôt témoigne de la force des sociétés [...]" ("In France, one single man held my hand, it was Victor Hugo. Accompanying letter to the replacement for a manuscript that has been lost by the French mail, according to an earlier letter: "Ci-inclus la suite du manuscrit 'perdu'; à demain la fin, et du manuscrit de M. Roy que j’avais prêt, c. à d. corrigé. Pourquoi n’ai-je pas encore reçu les dernières épreuves de livr[aisons] 8 et 9 ? Vous les aviez envoyés à Bordeaux où M. Roy n’est pas pour le moment. Mais quoiqu’il est très juste et même dicté par les convenances de lui envoyer des épreuves, cela ne devrait jamais devenir une cause de retard. Les corrections sont faites ici et non par lui. Je n’expose pas ma méthode mais je l’applique dès le commencement, mais son application, dans les premiers chapitres, à l’analyse de la 'marchandise', 'la valeur', 'l’argent' est par la nature de la chose elle-même un peu difficile à suivre. Mais c’est facile de changer 'ne se laisseront pas arrêter dans leur lecture par l’application de votre méthode analytique aux premières notions de l’économie politique qui par leur nature même sont très abstraites' - ou quelque chose comme ça - nous aurions avec cela fini avec les préliminaires. Monsieur Roy est français. Il a été (mais quand il était déjà un homme fait) pendant quelques années en Allemagne. Il traduit trop litéralement dans les passages faciles, mais il montre sa force dans les choses difficiles. Néanmoins, vos corrections me serviront toujours comme des matériaux utiles pour la correction définitive. La première livraison de la dernière édition allemande (le libraire allemand vous a imité en acceptant pour la dernière édition la forme de livraison) paraîtra probablement pendant la semaine suivante. J'ai reçu de St. Petersburgh la traduction russe (d'après la première édition). Elle est excellente. Le livre a dû passer par la censure, mais la censure n’a rien rayé excepté mon portrait. He translates simple passages too literally but shows his strengths when it comes to more difficult things. Nevertheless, your corrections will always serve me as useful material for the final correction. The first instalment of the latest German edition (the German publisher is imitating you by accepting the mode of instalments for the latest edition) will probably appear during the next week. I have received from St. Petersburg the Russian translation (off the first edition). It is excellent. The books had to pass censorship but the censors haven't effaced anything except my portrait. À la qualité de bailleur de fonds joignant celle d’administrateur inamovible, vous avez, ce me semble toutes les garanties, tous les avantages qu’il est juste de vous accorder: il n’y aurait plus qu’à nous entendre sur la répartition des actions industrielles. Remarkable political correspondence from the exile to Maurice Lachâtre. Pyat, sentenced to death by the 3rd War Council on 28 March 1873, took refuge in London. Lachâtre, to be deported to a fortified compound, fled to Spain in December 1873. Following the amnesty (11 July 1880), the two outlaws, returned in France, co-directed "La Commune", a socialist newspaper (45 issues, 21 Sept.-4 Nov. 1880). - 1872: Pyat recounts his flight from Paris to London and deplores France's state of despondency. - He advises against a return from Spain and attests to horrors committed during the fall of the Commune. Pyat notes the desired conditions for publishing a history of the Commune, combining a newspaper, collaborating with the printer Juste Vernouillet, pros and cons of publishing in Paris or Brussels. Under the pseudonym "Solange" he considers the lifting of the state of siege, weighs the interest of a rapid or deferred publication of the history and the newspaper, and underlines risks to the country. He speaks of help for the outlaws, urges Lachâtre to keep away from the rigors of Thiers, shows interest in other Lachâtre authors (including Karl Marx and Eugène Sue), and makes political predictions: the monarchists, he says, would rally around Thiers, and political opinion would become more radical. - 1873: Pyat promises to provide souvenirs for Lachâtre's biography of Sue, is alarmed at Lachâtre's idea of returning home to Thiers' "orgy of blood", and reacts with ironic pride to his condemnation by the Council of War. He worries about Lachâtre due to the conditions in Spain. Pyat mentions how Thiers' fall corresponds to the laws of political science and invokes quarrels among the international (Vésinier, Landeck, Vaillant, Arnault, etc.). - 1874: Pyat sets out his observations on Castelar's fall and the Spanish Bourbon restoration, as well as on Lachâtre's setbacks in Belgium. - 1875: Pyat communicates a letter by Garibaldi (two ms. copies attached) for the press "for French propaganda". He considers a newspaper proposal. The justice of Paris turns out to be the triumph of the murderers. He debates the project of an exile newspaper, mentioning "La Voix du procrit" of Ledru and "Le Nouveau Monde" of Louis Blanc. - 1876: the amnesty was spoiled. He fights Lachâtre's hesitations to invest in a French newspaper, recalls the success of "Le Combat", and comments on the clumsiness of human rights. - 1877: his friend Gambon has told him about Lachâtre's plan of moving to Naples. Pyat would only agree to direct Duportal's "La Marseillaise" under a different title and with an adopted focus, criticizing the paper's unclear policies. - 1878: Pyat discusses their newspaper "La Commune", finances, seizure of the first issues, a guarantee for the citizen Castelnau, a friend and collaborator of Delescluze, summonses by the correctional police for non-payment of a fine, complaints about Dr Lux and the administrator Avenant. Several times he refers to Lachâtre's safe conduct to Paris. - 1879: New reflections on the amnesty. Versailles had no right to punish, no right to pardon; the outlaw's duty is to return only if he can win his cause and make the others return. Pyat urged Lachâtre to return to launch the newspaper; he was not mistaken: no amnesty. Pyat considers "Le Travail", in regard to declaration, title, administration, drafting (Rogeard, Gambon, Cluseret, Reclus, Protot, etc.). He hopes that General de Wimpffen will pardon Lachâtre. He gives advice in case of Lachâtre's reprieve and return, and receives emotionally the portrait of a martyr who redeems mankind. He warns of an agreement with Blanqui, whose "La Patrie" in danger proves that he is not the best journalist, and advises for caution until after the vote of the Senate. - Includes 2 ms. Das Manuskript beschreibt in sechs Kapiteln 1) den Rückzug der k. k. österr. Armee von Magenta bis an die Chiese, 2) die Ereignisse vom 15. bis 22. Juni - weiterer Rückzug bis hinter den Mincio, 3) den Übergang der österr. Armee auf das rechte Ufer des Mincio am 23. Juni und 4) die Schlacht von Solferino am 24. Juni und hält 5) Betrachtungen sowie 6) das Resultat der Schlacht fest. - "Von Ramming ist nach dem Frieden von Zür[i]ch als Manuscript gedruckt ein 'Beitrag zur Schlacht bei Solferino' erschienen, worin nach dem Urtheile von Fachmännern der Gegenstand mit vollem Freimuthe behandelt ist, ein Umstand, der leichtbegreiflich Veranlassung zu mancherlei Reclamationen gab" (Wurzbach XXIV, S. 314). Der Vermerk "als Manuskript gedruckt" findet sich auch hier am Titel, allerdings ist in keinem Bibliothekskatalog weltweit ein Exemplar davon angeführt, lediglich Rammings Schrift über den Feldzug in Ungarn und Siebenbürgen 1849 und sein "Commentar zu der Russischen Darstellung des ungarischen Revolutionskrieges" sind dort zu finden. - Rücken etwas beschabt und bestoßen, die Gelenke angeplatzt, innen jedoch sauber und in tadellosem Zustand.‎

Hermeneutik 6 [...]"; fünf Positionen sind bereits gestrichen. - Das freundschaftliche Verhältnis zwischen Goethe und Griesbach datiert bereits aus des Letzteren Frankfurter Jahren. Goethe war mit Griesbachs Frau Friederike Juliane, geb. Schütz, bekannt und schätzte sie sehr (vgl. Biedermann, "Goethes Gespräche", und Eckermann, "Gespräche mit Goethe"). - Etwas braunfleckig und altersbedingt etwas gebräunt.‎
