‎Latin ms. on vellum. Rhineland, early 16th c. (after 1503).‎

‎12mo (65 x 90 mm). 109 ff. (numbered i, 108 in pencil by a later hand); thus complete. Latin bastarda on vellum. With blue and red Lombardic initials throughout, a few (ff. 31r, 49r, 69r, 71v, 74v) with penwork decoration. Contemporary wooden boards (wants spine; lower cover cracked). A pretty, pocket-size prayer book, not classifiable as belonging to any known collection. Based on the unsophisticated penwork and the litany, it was probably created in the (northern) Rhineland. Title (fol. 1r): "Exhortacio salutaris terrorem iudicii ac timorem incutiens divinem ul[tionis]; incipit "Expergiscere o miserabilis homo" (for the beginning, but not the remainder of the text, cf. Nicolaus de Saliceto, Antidotarius animae). Contains numerous indulgences, including (fol. 80r/v) one by Pope Alexander VI in honour of Saint Anne (1494; she is also the first female Saint mentioned in the litany, fol. 38v). As the indulgence granted by Pope Sixtus IV for performing the prayer "Ave sanctissima virgo" was doubled by Pope Julius II (1503-13) (cf. fol. 67r), the date can be assumed with a high degree of certainty as after 1503. The penitential psalms (fol. 31r ff.) are followed by the kyrie and litany (37v-38v: with SS. Gereon and Odila); fols. 88r-97v contain prayers to the Saints (including SS. Rochus [fol. 93v], Odilia [fol. 95r], Gertrude [fol. 95v], Apollonia [fol. 96r], Mary Magdalene and Ursula [fol. 97r]). - Later quotation from Maleachi 4:2 in the margin of the first page ("orietur vobis timentibus Deum sol iustitiae"); the blank verso contains a longer note "Dum quis intrat Ecclesiam Auffer a nobis quis Domine cunctas iniquitates nostras" etc.; some additional early modern marginalia. Between leaves 67 and 68 an interesting stain shows that a contemporary reader forgot his pince-nez, which he must have used as a bookmark, within the book. Ownership "Co[...] Rabenau" (2nd half of 18th c.) on inside upper cover. Wooden boards show traces of a former calf binding, with the impression of an armorial stamp on the upper cover; lower cover split near the binding. Right edge of upper cover, as well as lower edge, show traces of gnawing (no loss to text).‎

‎Manuscrit de 25 feuillets autographes (17,7x22,5 cm et 11,8x18,5 cm) d'une écriture bien lisible, à l'encre, recto seul, signé d'Anatole Prevost-Paradol, daté du 03 octobre 1862 - bon état -‎

‎Anatole Prevost-Paradol (1829-1870) est le fils de Léon Halévy et le demi-frère cadet de Ludovic Halévy. Après de brillantes études à l’Ecole normale, il se distingue très tôt comme journaliste politique et critique littéraire au Journal des débats dès 1856. Libéral, il s'oppose d'abord au Second Empire. A 36 ans, il est élu à l'Académie française. Cette rapide ascension dans la carrière littéraire se verra brutalement interrompue par une suite de déceptions liées à son engagement politique. ‎1937. Branle-bas de combat , 9 feuillets manuscrits autographes (27,1 x 21 cm. ) comportant de nombreuses ratures, d’un seul mot à un paragraphe entier. Quatre paragraphes sont ainsi biffés, et non repris dans la version publiée dans la revue le CINEMAtographe. On joint à ce manuscrit les deux seuls numéros de la revue CINEMAtographe, parus en mars et mai 1937, in-folio de 16p. chacun. Le texte des 9 feuillets autographes présentés ici correspond à la seconde partie, qui occupe la p. 4 de la revue. On joint un papillon annonçant les projections du tout jeune Cercle du Cinéma qui deviendra en 1936 la Cinémathèque française.‎

‎Illustré de nombreuses photographies des films dont il est question dans les 2 n° de la revue. C’est en mars 1937 que paraît, dans le CINEMAtographe, la première partie de ce « scénario-feuilleton », avec la mention scénario pour Marcel L’Herbier. La seconde partie est publiée deux mois plus tard dans le second et dernier numéro. Cette fois, le scénario est pour Raymond Bernard (le fils de Tristan Bernard); une note en bas de page précise ironiquement «... Nous avions d’abord pressenti M. Marcel L’Herbier pour la réalisation de notre film. Depuis, ayant été voir Marthe Richard, il nous a semblé que M. Raymond Bernard était momentanément plus qualifié... ». Marcel L'Herbier s'était spécialisé dans les films commerciaux « avec décors marins et militaires, scènes de cocufiage et jalousie». Marthe Richard est un film dans lequel Edwige Feuillère - espionne - sacrifie sa vertu sur l'autel de la Patrie... Branle-bas de combat a été joué pour la première fois en décembre 1949 sur la scène de la Rose Rouge, dans un spectacle d'Yves Robert consacré à Prévert et intitulé Entrées et sorties et ainsi de suite. Il sera publié dans Spectacle en 1951, avec quelques variantes par rapport au manuscrit présenté ici. D. Gasiglia-Laster & A. Laster in Oeuvres complètes, t. 1, éd. Four paragraphs are thus crossed out, and not included in the version published in the journal CINEMAtographe. Attached to this manuscript are the only two issues of the journal Cinematographe, published in March and May 1937, in folio of 16p. each. The text of the 9 autograph pages presented here corresponds to the second part, which occupies p. 4 of the review. We join a flyer announcing the screening of the young Cinema Circle which will become in 1936 the French cinematheque.Illustrated with many photographs of the films mentioned in the second issue of the magazine.It was in March 1937 that the first part of this « scénario-feuilleton » appeared in the CINEMAtographe, with the mention scenario for Marcel L'Herbier. The second part is published two months later in the second and last issue. This time, the script is for Raymond Bernard (the son of Tristan Bernard); a note at the bottom of the page says ironically "... Nous avions d'abord contacté M. Marcel L'Herbier pour la réalisation de notre film. Depuis que nous sommes allés voir Martha Richard, il nous a semblé que M. Raymond Bernard était momentanément plus qualifié... ". Marcel L'Herbier specialized in commercial films "with marine and military decor, scenes of cuckoldering and jealousy". Marthe Richard is a film in which Edwige Feuillère - spy - sacrifices her virtue on the altar of the Motherland... Branle-bas de combat was played for the first time in December 1949 on the stage of the Red Rose, in a Yves Robert's show devoted to Prévert and entitled Entrées et sorties et ainsi de suite. ‎L'auteur , qui a signé sa lettre du monogramme "E.D." , répond à un lecteur ( M. Raguenet de Saint Albin , de St Cyr en Val, Loiret), qui a envoyé un ensemble de remarques à la Rédaction de la Croix du dimanche. Sont évoqués : le capital, sa source : le travail , l'entreprise et sa place , le rédacteur écrit et souligne " l'entreprise a pris une personnalité et une valeur qui lui sont propres et qui n'ont aucun rapport de grandeur avec les capitaux apportés à l'origine . Or dans sa forme actuelle.. généralement .. capitaliste- l'entreprise revient en toute proprité au capital et aucunement à ceux qui par leur intellignece crétarice, leurs efforts de tous ordres, l'ont cependant faite ce qu'elle est." Suit un long développement sur la rémunération du travail. " Q'est-ce qu'une juste rémunération? "... Puis " vous faites intervenir dans votre lettre " le paradoxe des vendanges". Le seigneur , je crois et cela d'après les exégètes, n'a pas donné dans son Evangile, de solution technique au salaire, ni approuvé au crotiqué le salariat. Il a donné des principes dont les chrétiens, maitres et ouvriers doivent s'inspirer..." et il répond enfin sur le communisme : le devoir des chrétiens est d'établir "une doctrine sociale chrétienne" sous peine de voir "d'indéfinis moratoires contre nous, pour ou contre la vérité , pour ou contre Dieu".Très belle lettre, dense, du rédacteur en chef (?) de la Croix du Dimanche, sur le capital, le travail, l'entreprise, le salariat, le rôle social des chrétiens, en réponse à la lettre d'un lecteur du journal (quelques ratures). Sadberk Hanim Museum's collection of illuminated manuscripts and calligraphy was created as a result of the special interest in this subject felt by Sevgi Gönül, who herself had an outstanding collection of calligraphic panels. Sevgi Gönül served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Museum until her death in 2003 and under her direction the collection was enriched with rare manuscript Korans, prayer books, albums, documents such as imperial edicts, warrants and endowment deeds, hilye-i serif panels and calligraphic wall panels by renowned Ottoman calligraphers. Sevgi Gönül also collected rare examples of Sufi panels. Over time both collections developed and diversified to a noteworthy degree. Sevgi Gönül's personal calligraphy collection was at her own wish transferred to Sadberk Hanim Museum in 2004, following her premature death. Sadberk Hanim Museum's collection of manuscripts and calligraphy totalled 915 works at the start of 2019. Apart from the 157 works belonging to the Sevgi Gönül collection, the museum collection comprises the Hüseyin Kocabas collection, the Pirizade collection, works purchased at auction in Turkey and abroad, and donations. The Hüseyin Kocabas collection of 601 works consists of Korans, copies of the Dela'ilü'l-Hayrat,miscellanies, calligraphers' diplomas and literary works. The Pirizade collection consists of 28 manuscripts, nine of which are Korans. Korans and prayer books that are richly illuminated on every page, albums, documents such as endowment deeds, property deeds, imperial edicts, are invaluable sources of information for Ottoman social and economic history, architecture and art. Examples preserved in Sadberk Hanim Museum are enlightening as regards Ottoman calligraphic style between the late fifteenth and early twentieth centuries, while the signatures on these works increase our knowledge of the master calligraphers, artists and illuminators who created them.‎

Examples preserved in Sadberk Hanim Museum are enlightening as regards Ottoman calligraphic style between the late fifteenth and early twentieth centuries, while the signatures on these works increase our knowledge of the master calligraphers, artists and illuminators who created them.‎
