Souvent, des interferences se creent entre plusieurs langages ? ecrit, visuel ou oral ?, jouant ainsi sur les sens possibles de l'oeuvre et mobilisant la culture du lecteur et/ou du spectateur. Les exemples retenus ont des lors contribue a preciser la pluralite de ces interactions qui questionnent en permanence sur le statut, le role de l'image et sa relation a d'autres media. Au cours de ses sejours a Erevan, elle a sans cesse beneficie du soutien et des conseils des bibliothecaires. Je les remercie d?avoir rendu possible l?elaboration de cet instrument de travail. La presente publication permet de faire connaitre aux chercheurs du monde entier des documents precieux, mais insuffisamment pris en compte par les hellenistes et les armenisants. En particulier, il reste beaucoup a faire dans le domaine des traductions des textes litteraires grecs en armenien. Le Catalogue de R. Varteni Chetanian, qui a par ailleurs publie une remarquable etude sur la traduction armenienne des Homelies sur les Actes des apotres de Jean Chrysostome, donne un moyen nouveau de progresser dans ce champ de recherche. C?est dire que le present Catalogue ne doit pas etre envisage comme une fin ou une cloture. Il doit au contraire etre a l?origine d?autres travaux : travaux d?edition des plus importants textes grecs exhumes par R. Varteni Chetanian ; travaux de numerisation des fragments et des manuscrits, afin de rendre possible leur consultation a distance. ISBN 9782503529295.‎ ‎Le Catalogue decrit les manuscrits du monastere de la Panaghia situe sur l?ile de Chalki, manuscrits qui sont maintenant conserves au Patriarcat ?cumenique a Istanbul. Le premier volume contient, apres une ample Introduction, la description des 171 manuscrits grecs qui constituent ce fonds et se termine par les index d?usage, tres detailles ; le second volume est reserve aux illustrations, soit 295 planches photographiques, la plupart du temps en couleur : 259 planches pour les ecritures et les decors, 36 planches pour les reliures. Repondant aux normes scientifiques modernes, il remplace les catalogues anterieurs, ceux du metropolite Athenagoras (1921-22) et d?Aemilianos Tsakopoulos (1953). Se repartissant entre le 10e et le 18e siecle, les manuscrits de la Panaghia ont principalement un contenu liturgique et religieux. La litterature classique n?est cependant pas absente, et quelques miscellanees particulierement complexes sont d?un grand interet. La richesse de la collection tient aux conditions de sa formation. Elle rassemble en effet des manuscrits de trois origines : manuscrits copies sur l?ile de Chalki entre la fin du 15e siecle et le milieu du 17e pour les besoins de la communaute, manuscrits apportes par les moines du Prodrome de Sozopolis sur la mer Noire lors de leur exil de 1629, manuscrits offerts par des particuliers, des eveques ou des patriarches. Les abondantes annotations qu?ils portent en font une source documentaire de premier ordre pour ecrire l?histoire des communautes monastiques situees a Constantinople et dans sa region (en particulier dans la mer de Marmara) d?une part, a Sozopolis sur la rive occidentale de la mer Noire d?autre part. Le nombre exceptionnellement eleve de manuscrits signes et dates apporte beaucoup a la connaissance des centres de copie et a la paleographie. Libri, qui se resumait a 40 pages, pour 1000 pages et un CDRom dans ce nouveau volume. 220 manuscrits medievaux et 420 modernes sont decrits, 210 medievaux et 285 modernes conserves a la Bibliotheque municipale, 10 medievaux et 135 modernes a la Societe Eduenne. C?est un travail collectif et pluridisciplinaire, une vingtaine de medievistes sont intervenus, chacun dans leur domaine particulier, pour un nombre variables de contributions : A.Bondeelle, I. Delaunay, A. Dufour, J. Dufour, G.Giordanengo, D. Jacquart, M.d'Harcourt, H. Loyau, Z.Kaluza, G. Lanoe, Cl. Maitre, A. Minvielle, E.Palazzo, A. Rebourg (?),Fr.Richard, P. Stirnemann, L.Torchet, V. Von Buren, Y. Zaluska, sous la direction de Claire Maitre. Ce fonds de manuscrits est remarquable par son antiquite et sa stabilite, parmi les manuscrits medievaux, 35 sont anterieurs a l?an mille, ce qui est considerable, et temoigne de la vitalite d?AUTUN durant le haut moyen age. Pendant le deuxieme millenaire, l?importance politique de la ville diminue, mais elle beneficie d?une grande stabilite, grace en partie a la perennite d?un chapitre cathedral qui, installe probablement au IXe siecle, existe toujours au XXIe. Meme a l?epoque revolutionnaire, les manuscrits du chapitre resteront paisiblement a la cathedrale, ils bougeront seulement de quelques centaines de metres au XIXe siecle pour passer au Seminaire, et encore au debut du XXe siecle, pour s?installer a la Bibliotheque municipale. Ce programme d?etude sur les manuscrits d?Autun a deja donne lieu a deux publications : un petit livre illustre qui, a propos de ce fonds, a tente d?expliquer quelques caracteres propres aux manuscrits : Regards sur les manuscrits d?Autun, Autun, 1995, ecrit par six des collaborateurs du Catalogue scientifique, et : J.-L. The forces of the Reformation era did not produce the same effect across the varied textual legacy of the Middle Ages. Every text that made the transition from manuscript to print brought with it a set of concerns, a tendency to address a particular readership in particular ways, a physical presence developed in manuscript culture, all of which might shape the pathways by which a text might arrive in print, and what it might look like when it got there. This study follows The Canterbury Tales, The Book of Margery Kempe, and Piers Plowman from their circulation in manuscript to their presentation in print, in order to track how each of them survived the metamorphosis of the relationship between writers and readers as the new technology was introduced. Taken together, the three case studies demonstrate to scholars of any medieval literature the variety of possible impacts made when texts composed in manuscript culture were prepared for printing. The great force exerted by the technological and cultural developments of the English Reformation, not least the more centralized legislative regulation of the press, has long been central to the study of the history of books. In assenza di inventari e disposizioni testamentarie, la raccolta libraria del Crinito e stata ricostruita attraverso un sistematico spoglio della bibliografia di riferimento, ma anche attraverso controlli diretti dei singoli fondi delle principali biblioteche in cui sono giunti materiali dell?umanista fiorentino. La ricerca ha portato al reperimento di 34 volumi di proprieta del Crinito per un totale di 64 unita codicologiche. Particolare attenzione e stata dedicata ai manoscritti autografi del Crinito che, pur distribuiti in un arco di anni ridotto dal 1486 al 1500, permettono di delineare un quadro dell?evoluzione delle sue abitudini grafiche dagli anni della formazione scolastica all?eta matura. There are also notable exceptions of complete Bibles made not in Paris, but in North-Eastern France or Champagne (e.g. Cat. 70), and displaying iconography, figure styles and order of books different from those found in their better-known Parisian contemporaries. We hope that the inclusion of numerous images in full colour representing Bibles illuminated in all of these different styles will inspire and support further research, especially on the ornamental initials which deserve more attention. While this volume contains outstanding examples of illumination, notably the work of the itinerant Simon Master (Cat. 46), it also includes books that are modest in artistic terms, but valuable in other ways. Among them is a glossed Ezekiel which boasts one of the finest Romanesque bindings to survive in Cambridge collections, made almost certainly in Paris c.1160-1170 (Cat. 41). While continuing the tradition of French figurative art, ornamentation became a major element in the style of the period, with frames and borders becoming a significant feature of the aesthetic impact of the illuminated page. One hundred manuscripts have been chosen for this survey to represent the artistic excellence of French book production of the period, as well as to demonstrate the stylistic relationships between artists and between books that may be seen to form distinct groups. Many years of research enabled the author to identify the hands of individual illuminators, both named and anonymous, and to connect these to a particular artistic milieu or regional group. Moreover, not only are the stylistic aspects of the manuscripts analysed, but entirely new information regarding authorship, patronage and historical context are revealed here of hitherto unstudied material. The author, Myra Orth, completed her catalogue and introductory texts shortly before her sad death some years ago. Since that time, a number of scholars ? specialists in French manuscripts studies of the period ? have helped to update the literature that has more recently appeared relating to the manuscripts catalogued and to the individual artists and workshops discussed.
