The letter which is dated 1991 goes into some detail about a recent exchange of musical cassettes of Shostakovich's music and the price of the second edition of this book putting it 'out of the reach of general music-lovers'. From the Faber Library of Illuminated Manuscripts. The Lambeth Bible is a 12th Century illuminated manuscript (probable date 1150-1170) considered to be among the finest surviving giant bibles from Romanesque England. It exists in two volumes. The first volume exists in the Lambeth Palace library (MS3) and covers Genesis to Job and is 328 pages of vellum measuring 518 x 353 mm. Originally this first volume was paired with another volume (MS4) in the Lambeth Palace Library but in 1924 it was realised that the correct pairing was with a second incomplete volume now held in the Maidstone Museum & Art Gallery (MS P.5) . Giorgio Petrocchi, nato a Tivoli nel 1921, è ordinario di Letteratura italiana nella facoltà di Magistero di Roma. È autore di varie edizioni critiche, tra cui quella della Commedia di Dante (1966-1967), e di studi e saggi critici, tra i quali La formazione letteraria di Giovanni Pascoli (1953), Ascesi e mistica trecentesca (1957), La tecnica manzoniana del dialogo (1959), Poesia e tecnica narrativa (1962), Itinerari danteschi (1969), Manzoni. Letteratura e vita (1971), I fantasmi di Tancredi (1972). La materia di questo terzo tomo tratta d'uno dei periodi più notevoli della civiltà moderna, e trova nel Parini e nell'Alfieri i suoi più rilevanti novatori. Scritti su Galeno, Aristotele, Tolomeo, Avicenna, Alberto Magno, Mondino, Henry De Mondeville, Guido Da Vigevano, Guy De Chauliac, Leonardo Da Vinci, Magnis Hundt, Berengario Da Capri, Charles Estienne, Dryander e Ryff, Bartolomeo Eustachio, Juan Valverde De Hamusco, Girolamo Cardano, Giovan Battista Canano, Michelangelo, Vassé... Leonardo e altri autori privilegiano un modello iconografico compositivo. Altri, come Vesalio, un modello analitico e dissettivo. Sullo sfondo il non facile rapporto tra l’idea compositiva di armonia, fondamentale nel Rinascimento, e una scienza per sua natura analitica quale è l’anatomia.
