Bound in a thin pale green and gold marbled paper wrapper that has two small chips off the rear panel. Very clean inside and out, one short name on the front endpaper, else completely clean. The list has sections on American child labor laws, also European countries, i.e. Great Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria- Hungary, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Spain. Also a section on British Colonies. Author index. Subject index. 10" high X 7" wide, 66 pages.

In 8°; 8 pp. Senza brossura ma non slegato. Prima rara edizione, in forma si opera a sé stante (l'articolo era già uscito Sul Giornale Scientifico-Letterario Modenese nel luglio del 1841) di quest’articolo del noto medico originario di Carpi, Grimelli Geminiano dedicato all’opera e alla vita (con biografia) del grande scienziato bolognese Luigi Galvani. Grimelli studente di Ruffini, laureatosi nel 1824, fu medico a Carpi dove fu anche direttore del nosocomio cittadino. Nel 1829 ottenne l'incarico di istituzioni patologiche nell'Università modenese, disciplina di cui divenne titolare, succedendo ad A. Bazzani. Partecipe dei moti del 48’ fu costretto alla fuga. Rimase ai lati della vita accademica e civile fino al 1859 quando Farini lo chiamò alla direzione del ministero della Pubblica Istruzione. Da qui in poi ebbe una prepotente ascesa politica che lo portò già nel 1859-60 a ricoprire il ruolo di rettore dell’Univeristà di Modena e presidente di varie accademie. Fu uomo di grande cultura e uno dei massimi esperti dell’opera di Luigi Galvani. Esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione.

"[Jacob Grimm] created, almost out of nothing, the scientific study of German and Germanic mythology, philology, poetry and law, mostly in the years 1806-29 when [he] was a badly paid library-assistant in Cassel. His 'German Grammar' is in fact a 'Germanic Grammar', tracing the development of this branch of the Indo-European language family [... Grimm] explained the differences of the Germanic languages from their sister tongues and within themselves by showing the determinable regularity of hitherto unnoticed or inexplicable phenomena such as the gradation and modification of vowels" (PMM). - This set does not include the volumes 3 and 4, which were not published until 1837.
