This work is the fruit of a massive project undertaken by the author, a staff member of the Library of the JTS. It organizes the data culled from tens of thousands of Jewish books over a period of about 150 years. The result is an index of 350, 000 Jews from almost 9, 000 communities who presubscribed for specific books by specific writers, their names having been noted in the books upon publication.
