Sohnle, Werner Paul u.a.:
More than one thousand music editions, manuscript copies, records, CDs and tape recordings and musical renderings of Hölderlin‹s texts or compositions dedicated to him by about 400 different composers are listed and made accessible in this work. One chapter is dedicated to the few pieces of music which Hölderlin knew or played himself. The work also includes previously unknown translations of Hölderlin texts in the music editions as well as more than 60 recitations by famous narrators. All the music and the recordings are in the Hölderlin Archive and are available for use. Comprehensive indexes enable in-depth research from various perspectives, since those responsible have tried to deal with as many issues as possible. There are explanatory notes to supplement the special volume". (Verlagstext). ISBN 9783772819285 Bücher de

Tristan, E. Franklinos (ed.):
Revisiting the Codex Buranus.
23 x 16 cm. 506 pp. Hardcover (as new). *"The Codex Buranus, compiled, in all likelihood, in South Tyrol in the first half of the thirteenth century, has fascinated modern scholars and performers ever since its rediscovery in 1803. Its diverse range of texts (some famously featuring in Carl Orff`s Carmina Burana) and music gives testimony to the intensely vibrant, plurilingual, and multicultural milieu in which the Codex Buranus was compiled, but poses a challenge to modern users. Perhaps more so than many other medieval manuscripts, it is an artefact which demands, and benefits from, an interdisciplinary approach. The chapters here, from scholars in a variety of fields, enable the less well-known aspects of the Codex Buranus; textual, musical, and artistic; to receive greater scrutiny, and bring new perspectives to bear on the more thoroughly explored parts of the manuscript. Making accessible existing discourse and encouraging fresh debates on the codex, the essays advocate fresh modes of engagement with its contents, contexts, and composition. They also examine questions of its reception history and audience". ISBN 9781783273799 Bücher en

8vo. Ix, 329 pages. First edition. SUBJECT (S) : Jews bibliography; Publishers and publishing Pennsylvania Philadelphia bibliography; Jewish Publication Society of America bibliography. Bloch (1890-1957) was an American librarian, bibliographer, and reform rabbi. Born in Dorbian, Lithuania, Bloch went to the U. S. In 1907. He taught at New York University from 1919 to 1928; from 1922 until his death he served as chaplain in several hospitals of the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene. His main work, however, was as head of the Jewish Division of the New York Public Library, a post which he held from 1923 to 1956; under his direction the Library developed as one of the major collections of Judaica in the United States. Bloch arranged many major exhibitions of Judaica there. Many of his bibliographical researches into the history of Hebrew printing were published by the Library, such as Hebrew Printing in Riva di Trento, [and] Early Hebrew Printing in Spain and Portugal. He also founded the quarterly Journal of Jewish Bibliography in 1938 and was its editor until 1943. In 1940 he was appointed to the publication committee of the Jewish Publication Society and a year later to the editorial board of the Jewish Apocryphal Literature Series; as a result of these connections he wrote On the Apocalyptic in Judaism and Of Making Many Books (1953; an annotated list of the books issued by the Jewish Publication Society, 18901952) . The following year he published The People and the Book, on 300 years of Jewish life in America. ("EJ, some edge wear, Binding solid and tight. Very good condition. (SPEC-37-2A)
