HAEBLER (Konrad)
Spanische und Portugiesische B?cherzeichen des XV. und XVI. Jahrhunderts.
Folio, [iv],xlpp., with the H.P. Kraus bookplate, 46 plates, cont. quarter roan, spine rubbed, marbled sides. The marks of 93 different Spanish and Portuguese printers are included in this study. An alphabetical list of printers' and publishers' names refers the reader to biographical sketch in which each name appears. Information presented includes the dates during which a printer was active, cities in which he worked, and associates with whom he worked. Clear prints of marks are provided, as are the title, author, date and city of publication, and size of book(s) in which each mark appears, as well as citations to other scholarly resources. The index of printers' and publishers' names is comprehensive, guiding users of this work to both the main entry on a printer or publisher as well as to entries in which the name is mentioned, which makes this a useful book for researching the interactions between various printers.

Hale, John Rigby - SCARCE FIRST PRINTING
The Thames and Hudson Dictionary of the Italian Renaissance
Thames & Hudson LONDON 1981 A scarce hardback first edition. Most copies went to libraries. This one looks almost unread but it does have a neat owner signature and a blind stamp but these are tiny faults. The unclipped jacket has some slight sunning but it is not price clipped and it is protected. 'This is the one indispensable book for the student the scholar or the art lover' said one reviewer. So much more substantial than the copies offered in paperback this one is worth collecting in its own right. Firm binding no bent corners no marginal notes. Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Thames & Hudson LONDON hardcover

Halliwell, James Orchard
Morte Arthure. The Alliterative Romance of the Death of King Arthur. Now first printed from a Manuscript in Lincoln Cathedral
FIRST EDITION OF THE ALLITERATIVE MORTE ARTHURE, one of the great monuments of Arthurian literature and of Medieval English literature. This poem, like Gawain and the Green Knight, is part of the late Medieval literary movement now called the "alliterative revival". According to Larry Benson, the most recent editor of this poem, the Alliterative Morte Arthure "lacks the delicacy and balance of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, but the vigor of its narrative, the epic sweep of its action, and its coolly realistic presentation of fourteenth-century warfare lend the poem an interest of its own." EDITION LIMITED TO JUST 75 COPIES, each numbered and signed by the printer, of which THIS IS ONE OF ONLY 50 COPIES PRINTED ON THIN PAPER. Beautifully printed in large, attractive type on fine wove paper, with large margins. Frontispiece engraving by F. W. Fairholt after a manuscript miniature depicting the Round Table. Large 4to. Bound in original cloth, beautifully decorated in blind. Uncut. Professionally recased, with original endpapers preserved. Frontispiece discolored (as always, because of paper used) and a bit stained. Otherwise FINE AND BRIGHT. A legendary rarity, in its original binding. Extremely rare and important. sxxi
