"Le chef-d'oeuvre de Boucher comme illustration; c'est l'un des plus beaux livres de la première partie du XVIIIe siècle" Cohen-De Ricci. Updike "Printing Types" p.230 uses this edition to demonstrate the aridity of the later Molière printed by Didot: "To understand Didot's edition typographically compare it with the six-volume quarto edition of Molière of 1734 which was intended to be "printed with magnificence" by Pierre Prault. Prault's edition is from old style type faces full of warmth and colour while in the Didot Moliere though the types are not absolutely modern face they have lost their suave quality." "Edition assez belle et la première un peu remarkable que l'on ait donnée de notre grand comique." Brunet. "A tour de force" Bland. Cohen-de Ricci 712-14; Ray The Art of the French Illustrated Book 6; Tchemerzine 1977 IV 827. Paris: [Pierre Prault], 1734. hardcover
