Paris: Firmin Didot Freres 1852. Hardcover. Acceptable condition. Two-volume set vol.1 dated 1852 vol.2 - 1853. Leather-bound spine and leading corners. Text is in French. Boards are somewhat faded and have several scores. Leather binding is very worn and rubbed. Spine ends are worn and chipped. Leading corners are worn bumped and split. Hinges of both volumes are cracked. Name of former owner is penned on reverse of FEP of both volumes. Foxing at front and rear and at several additional points in both volumes. A few marks on pages. Very good paper covered marbled boards half calf binding raised banded spine blind stamped decoration to spine a hint of rubbing to extremities minor scuffing to leather basically clean 8 vo. tight and sound Volume I: previous owner's inscription to front endpaper dated 1912 another previous owner's inscription to the top of the page following the title page i-lxv 671 pages foxing in places particularly to the early pages and towards the end of the book pages xxxiii-lxi are stained to the bottom corner text fully readable. Volume II similar inscriptions of previous owners 698 pages 509-538 have a stain to the extreme edge of the pages towards the top. An attractive pair of books. .
