‎Akdeniz'in en büyük antik tersanesi Dana Adasi.‎

‎New Turkish Paperback. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 16 cm). In Turkish. 284 p., color ills. Akdeniz'in en büyük antik tersanesi Dana Adasi. "... The work at and around Dana Island (Pityoussa / Pityussa) yielded very important results with regards to archaeology. There is a modern lighthouse to warn seafarers about the shoal just off shore in the west. This shoal is about 50 cm. below the water surface and not visible in stormy weather, thus posing a great threat for seafarers. To the south-east of the shoal is a recently sunken modern ship at a depth of 25-35 m. covering a wide area at the bottom. Based on numerous wreck remains around the shoal, it is thought that this modern shipwreck currently conceals many other archaeological remains. In the vicinity of the lighthouse are numerous amphorae on the bottom and buried underneath the sand. The most significant find from this region is an iron ram used on ancient warships. Detailed underwater exploration around the island attested wrecks along the east, south and west coasts as well as anchors datable to the Bronze and Iron Ages and the Roman and East Roman periods. The most important outcome is the identification of structural remains under water by the coast on the mainland side of the island. Some of the remains belong to walls fallen because of an earthquake on the land. Some others are beaching sites hewn into rocks in the water (or on land but then submerged as the water levels rose)"... ‎MUSTAFA SERDAR PALABIYIK.‎

‎From coexistence to conflict Turkish and Greek relations in an age of Turmoil, (1821-1922).‎

‎New English Paperback. Cr. 8vo. (20 x 14 cm). In English. 285 p. This book analyzes the Turkish and Greek narratives of shared Turkish-Greek history by focusing on the "long nineteenth century", which was a period of turmoil for both societies. The four centuries of Ottoman rule over the Greek community, the Greek rebellion/war of independence, emergence of an independent Greek state, Ottoman reforms with regard to millet system, joint efforts of some Turkish and Greek communities for the re-promulgation of the Ottoman Constitution, increasing tensions between the Committee of Union and Progress and the Greek community and finally the transformation from coexistence to conflict during and after the World War I are covered briefly with the conflicting lenses of Turkish and Greek historiography. The book also attracts attention to Greek claims for a Greek Genocide by the Ottoman/Turkish authorities during and after the World War I and questions whether inter-communal clashes in Western and Northern Anatolia in this period can be considered as genocide in accordance with international law.‎

Report was not published before such as that. Roumi: 1327 = Gregorian: 1910. The Ottoman land represented a bridge between Asia and Europe, which was destroyed by epidemic diseases that emerged in different periods. In the 19th century, the main source of epidemic was the cholera morbus that emerged in India in the lower Bengal delta between the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers. At the beginning of the 19th century, the disease became a global threat. Cholera epidemic appeared for the first time in the Ottoman territory in 1822, and continued to emerge into intermediate outbreaks. Due to its geographical location, the cholera epidemic was easily spread to the Ottoman territory and caused great losses in the 19th century, when it became a global threat. At the beginning of the 20th century, still cholera was a serious problem. Prokopi is a settlement in Central Asia Minor, built on a plateau at an altitude of 1,200 m above sea level. It lies near the confluence of four tributary rivers of the Alys River (Kizilirmak), which flows to the north of Ürgüp, within about 10 km from the settlement. It has been claimed that the word Ürgüp is the Turkish version of the Greek name Prokopi. The latter is supposed to refer to St. Prokopios, although there is no evidence suggesting the existence of a namesake church. Levidis supported that the ancient name of the settlement was Osiana, which the traveller Texier (Charles) adopted as well. Ürgüp was inhabited by Muslims, Turkish-speaking Greek-Orthodox and some Armenians. Several conflicting opinions have been stated about the population. Farasopoulos talks about 15,000 Muslims and 5,000 Christians. According to an inventory carried out by the state in 1919, Ürgüp was inhabited by 12,500 Muslims, 6,000 Christian-Orthodox and 15-20 Armenian families.‎

‎New English Paperback. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In English. 195 p. Stories and memories of Bodrum's Jewish community. Some may know Bodrum as a pleasant vacation spot in Southwestern Turkey. Few, however, would know this town as the home of a small but influential Jewish community that thrived until the mid-20th century. In this book, artist and researcher C. M. Kösemen uses historic sources and interviews to flesh out the first comprehensive overview of this little-known Sephardic community. Here you will find compelling stories and poignant memories; of ancient Jewish settlements in the remote corners of the Bodrum peninsula; of pleasant family relations between Turks and Jews; of wartime hardships and near-escapes; of people like Janet Akyüz Mattei, who went on to become one of the world s greatest astrophysicists; of Abraham Galante the historian; and more Illustrated with detailed black-and-white photographs and annotated with footnotes that explain local nuances, this book also contains a touristic itinerary of Judaic sites in the vicinity of Bodrum.‎

‎Life story of the silk worm.= Ipek böceginin yasam öyküsü.‎

‎New English Original bdg. HC. Oblong 4to. (29 x 29 cm). In English and Turkish. 171 p., color ills. Life story of the silk worm.= Ipek böceginin yasam öyküsü. The story of the silkworm was told in the book from the silkworm egg to the silk. Narrators (silkworm, mulberry leaf and author) told the story from their own perspectives. The silkworm ate lots of mulberry leaves during the caterpillar stage since continuing its bloodline was its fundamental goal. It underwent the necessary transformations inside the silk walled house it weaved. It was reborn as a moth and came out of its cocoon. It coupled and left the eggs that will continue its bloodline. Thus, it experienced the joy of fulfilling its task before passing away. This natural cycle of life does not always continue in this manner. The goal of mankind to obtain the silk on the walls of the cocoon continuously disrupts the reproduction instinct of the silkworm. The silkworm tells the change in its life as such: "From that point onwards, I am just a string of silk. I am now a part of the lives of humans with my silk. I become the clothes on people's bodies or a carpet on which children play. I live with people, move with people, breathe with people. I am also udes as a building material of many artworks. I pay the price fort he silk I produce with my life. However, I start living among the people with their own energies. The 'silk' in my name 'silkworm' keeps on living. Thus, I am immortalized in the art of living with my silk. This consoles and immortalizes me.".‎

‎Osmanli'dan Cumhuriyet'e azinlik spor kulüpleri ve sporcular.‎

‎New Turkish Paperback. 4tto. (28 x 20 cm). In Turkish. 183 p., color and b/w ills. Aralarindan sayisiz milli sporcu, sayisiz sampiyon çikti.

‎ANTONY EASTMOND.‎

‎Byzantium's other empire: Trebizond.‎

‎New English Paperback. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In English. 264 p., color ills. Byzantium's other empire: Trebizond. Edited by Antony Eastmond. Trebizond, that "long-anticipated city of the Komnenians with its soft and melodious name" to quote Jakob Fallmerayer, has long lured scholars, attracted by its unique combination of Byzantine familiarity and Anatolian foreignness. From 1204 to 1461 the city was at the heart of an empire that proudly proclaimed its inheritance of Byzantine power, but simultaneously stood apart from it; a "Greek Emirate" surrounded by Turkish and Caucasian states. Focusing on the church of Hagia Sophia in Trebizond, with its unusual architecture, unique sculptural decoration and extraordinary wall paintings, Byzantium's Other Empire: Trebizond reveals the ways in which these tensions were expressed in public in the monuments of the empire. It draws extensively on the photograph and drawing archives of David and June Winfield, held in the Conway Library at the Courtauld Institute of Art. The Winfields restored the church from 1959-1963, in a project masterminded by David Talbot Rice. Here, Talbot Rice's photographs from 1929, as well as those of other early scholars who visited Trabzon, notably Gabriel Millet in 1893 and Fyodor Uspenskii in 1916-1917 are presented. These scholars recorded the city, its palaces, churches and monasteries. They provide glimpses of a lost empire and of the city of Trebizond which has been transformed in the decades since their visits. This volume also includes the first published translation into English of the fourteenth-century chronicle of Michael Panaretos.‎
