Auch in diesem Band ist das Hauptgewicht darauf gelegt, die Schüler zum freien mündlichen und schriftlichen Gebrauch der Sprache anzuleiten und zwar an Hand von Gesprächen und Erzählungen, die die Jugend fesseln. Die Einführung in die Englisch sprechende Welt wurde in bescheidenem Umfang fortgesetzt, da der Gebrauch der Sprache im Verkehr mit ihren Vertretern im Lande in den Vordergrund gestellt wurde. Die Grammatik leitet zur Satzlehre über; ihre Fassung solle, soweit als möglich, das Einfühlen in den fremden Sprachgeist erleichtern. Die Vorschläge zu freien schriftlichen Arbeiten (Aufsätzen und Nacherzählungen), sowie zu Gesprächsübungen sollen anregen, das behandelte Sprachgut selbständig und unbewußt zu verwerten und auf die Brücke des Übersetzens zu verzichten. Die Übersetzungen aus dem Deutschen sind nur als WiederhoJungsstücke gedacht und sollen nicht in unmittelbarem Anschluß an die Mustertexte behandelt werden.
