The Brazilian Naïves and their Color Carnaval
Tel-Aviv, Ifat Reiss / GINA, 2005. This is the catalogue of an exhibition which happened from May 26 to June 25, 2005, at the GINA Gallery in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Bilingual, written in English and Hebrew. A square 22 cm softcover volume with Bradel-style covers and 65 pp. Printed on couché paper, features all the paintings exhibited at the event. Introduction by Jacques Ardies. Foreword by Dan Chill, founder of GINA. Translated by Ofer Halevi. "This book presents a theoretical framework to discuss how governments coordinate budgeting decisions. There are two modes of fiscal governance conducive to greater fiscal discipline, a mode of delegation and a mode of contracts. These modes contrast with a fiefdom form of governance, in which the decision-making process is decentralized. An important insight is that the effectiveness of a given form of fiscal governance depends crucially upon the underlying political system. Delegation functions well when there are few, or no, ideological differences among government parties, whereas contracts are effective when there are many such differences. Empirically, delegation and contract states perform better than fiefdom states if they match the underlying political system. Additional chapters consider why countries have the fiscal institutions that they do, fiscal governance in Central and Eastern Europe, and the role of such institutions in the European Union." "In May 1940, Lord Northbourne’s book ‘Look to the Land’ appeared. He coined the term ‘organic farming’. He translated to English several works by Perennialists or Traditionalists René Guénon, Fritschof Schuon and Titus Burckhardt, and contributed frequently to the quarterly journal Studies in Comparative Religions. According to Wikipedia, "Lord Northbourne's garden at Elizabethan Northbourne Court near Deal in Kent, set within the standing former outbuildings (the manor house burned in the 18th century) and upon ancient terracing, nurtured for a century, is reputed one of the finest in England; it is not generally open to the public."
