Cinquini, Alain
1990s American Actor
Monte-Carlo: Alain Cinquini 1996. 22x15 cm. Color photo. Very Good. Alain Cinquini 1941-2021 photographerL'Est Républicain - Nov. 04 2012: Article on Alain Cinquini It all started when he came across Yves Montand Paul Newman and their respective wives. "I went to ask them to take a picture. Newman didn't want to. Simone Signoret told me that it was good to have asked. Montand understood that I would be there at the exit of the restaurant and practically organized a session by showing the mountain to Paul Newman. .Alain Cinquini takes his first photo of stars; that he does not exhibit for several days. It was on the advice of a friend that he finally made contact with the Gamma agency. The beginning of a great career. In a quarter o a century Alain Cinquini will take between 80000 and 100000 shots of the greatest stars becoming one of the essential independent photographers in the south of France and Monaco. He will maintain privileged relations with stars cinema and artists like Armand or César among others. In short an exemplary career during which he will never steal an image and will never violate the privacy of his clients." Quite the opposite of the paparazzi as we understand it today: "I have a way of working with respect for people probably because I was brought up that way. Some of my colleagues sometimes wondered how I managed to get certain photos. It was simply because I was seen well that I was doing my job correctly. And with correction. Having a good reputation in this environment it counts it opens doors. Monte-Carlo: Alain Cinquini, 1996 unknown

Cinquini, Alain (1941-2021); Marc Chagall (1887-1985)
A collection of original photographs of the burial of Marc Chagall with family and friend.s.
Most 17 x 13 cm. Annotated signed and dated 1.4.85 verso by the photographer. Includes Chagall's son David McNeil his grandson Piet Meyer his granddaughter Bella Meyer and various dignitaries. Jewish Telegraphic Agency April 2 1985:"Marc Chagall the Russian born Jewish painter many of whose masterpieces were on Jewish themes was buried today at Saint Paul De Vence the village in the south of France where he lived and worked for the past 20 years. He died last Thursday at the age of 97.There were no religious rites. Chagall’s widow Valentina Brodsky said the artist had specifically requested that there be no religious service at his burial. A family member recited the Kaddish but without the required minyan. The funeral was attended by a handful of family members and close friends and by diplomats of three nations. Two representatives of the Soviet Embassy in Paris were present as were French Foreign Minister Roland Dumas Minister of Culture Jack Lang and Israel’s Ambassador to France Ovadia Soffer.". Jean-Louis Prat:"Around the exhibition - with Marc Chagall'Special issue. Marc Chagall "BONJOUR LA PATRIE!".Chagall often used to drop in to the Maeght Foundation which was close to the Les Collines house-studio built by the artist in Saint-Paul in the shade of tall pine trees. During his walks in the rare hours set aside for rest how hard he always worked! invariably accompanied by his wife Vava he would visit us at the Foundation to see the latest works or take another look at pictures by artists he liked: Pierre Bonnard Henri Matisse Fernand Leger Georges Bracque Joan Miro and many other contemporaries who had been pioneers of the new art like he was.L'Est Républicain - 04 nov. Saint Paul: Alain Cinquini 1998. Saint Paul: Alain Cinquini, 1998 unknown
