Usato come strumento di protesta, lo zombi serve agli artisti come Fela Kuti o i Cranberries, per mostrare la terribile degradazione della mente umana quando è soggiogata dal potere; oppure ai cineasti come Romero, per denunciare l'abbrutimento della civiltà di massa; oppure ai critici della cultura come Sloterdijk o Zizek, per descrivere le forme disumane del neocapitalismo... In questo libro si tenta un altro passo: se di mito si tratta, occorre scavare nella sua realtà. Il morto vivente esiste: è l'essere uccidibile. Nell'epoca delle democrazie in affanno, nel crinale autoritario delle politiche mondiali, lo zombi affolla i notiziari della tivù del dolore quotidiano.
