Giada Lonati è un medico palliativista, il suo lavoro comincia quando la medicina che guarisce è stata sconfitta, quando si dice che "non c'è più niente da fare", e invece c'è ancora moltissimo da fare. Si occupa di accompagnare persone vive (vivissime) in quell'ultimo tratto in cui tutto cambia significato e prende senso. Quel tratto in cui irrompe una consapevolezza nuova nelle nostre vite, un sapere che getterà una luce più nitida sul nostro presente, darà una dimensione diversa al nostro tempo, ci renderà più intensamente vivi. Una sapienza che l'autrice condivide in queste pagine, ricche di pienezza umana e capaci di rimetterci in relazione con noi stessi, con il nostro essere qui e ora. Perché una speranza vera è realizzabile solo nell'orizzonte del possibile. E riconoscerci mortali e transitori, lungi dall'essere soltanto una scoperta dolorosa, può aiutarci a maturare uno sguardo rivoluzionario sul mondo, ad aprire gli occhi sulla bellezza ultima del quotidiano.
