Text in Latin with decorative woodcut initials; marginal staining to final leaves of text and index outer margin of final leaf strengthened modern blind-stamped calf with a classical portico tooled on the front cover. Old ownership inscriptions and ink stamps to title: 19th century ink stamps of Dominican libraries in Le Havre and Rouen presumably the Abbaye de Graville and the Couvent des Dominicains. Fifteenth-century Florentine astrologer and Neoplatonist philosopher Marsilio Ficino was among the most influential figures of the Italian Renaissance and he produced the first complete translation of Platos works edited here by the Protestant theologian and scholar Simon Grynaeus who held the post of professor of Greek at Basel.
