Complete in Two Volumes. Copac states this is an early reprint of the first edition not the original first. In the original French. With the armorial bookplate of William Phillips to the front pastedowns. With a George Davey Bristol bookseller's label to the front pastedown of volume one. Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin later Baroness Dudevant 1804 1876 best known by her pseudonym George Sand was a French novelist and memoirist. Sand's unorthodox life and loves may have provoked attention but her literary works and admirers including Flaubert Proust and Blazacspeak for themselves. Condition: In a half calf and marbled paper binding. Externally lightly rubbed with sunning. There is loss to the tail of the spine and lower front board of volume one with the joint just starting.
