‎8 volumes in-8 (195 x 125 mm), veau havane marbré, dos lisses ornés de compartiments cloisonnés dune guirlande dorée, palette en pied, pièces de titre et de tomaison de veau fauve et noir, plats de papier raciné, tranches mouchetées (reliure romantique de lépoque), 2 frontispices gravés représentant lautrice (tome VIII). Paris, Ladvocat, 1828.‎

‎Bonne édition, bien complète. Ces Mémoires constituent une source vivante sur les milieux militaires et policiers du Premier Empire, dont ils éclairent les intrigues et les réseaux d'influence.Aventurière et courtisane d'origine néerlandaise, Ida Saint-Elme, née Elzélina Van Aylde Jonghe (1776-1845), suivit les armées napoléoniennes et fréquenta les cercles militaires et politiques de son temps ; elle faillit épouser le général Moreau, fut la maîtresse du maréchal Ney et aurait servi dans la police secrète du Premier Empire.Selon Quérard, sur la base des papiers laissés par l'autrice, les deux premiers volumes furent rédigés par Antoine-A. Lesourd, les six suivants par Pierre-Armand Malitourne. Amédée Pichot fournit le "Voyage en Angleterre". Charles Nodier contribua à quelques fragments détachés. Le diplomate Charles Maxime Catherinet de Villemarest, enfin, se trouva avoir alimenté ces Mémoires à son insu.La connaissance précise de ces milieux par les co-auteurs, jointe au fonds d'expériences vécues fourni par Saint-Elme, confère à ces récits une réelle valeur documentaire. With name of recipient at head and docketed on reverse. He has 'seen some charming & <novel> useful Leaflets advocating Humanity to Animals' and has been 'led to understand they may be obtained through' his correspondent. He would like a hundred of the leaflets to be sent to him 'for which I will gladly send stamps'. ‎Samuel Carter Hall and his wife: their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary. Printed keepsake poem by Hall titled '54! Anniversary' with autograph signatures 'S. C. Hall.' and 'Anna Maria Hall'.‎

‎Without date or place. Firfield near Addlestone Sussex; 1878. . Printed in lilac on one side of a 12 x 85 cm piece of thin card with serated edges and rounded corners and with glue staining to one edge and on blank reverse. The card is embossed with tiny stars with decorative edges and the text enclosed within an oval border with the autograph signatures above one another in a rectangular box beneath it. The twelve-line poem signed in type 'S. C. HALL.' might be viewed as an example of Victorian sentimentality but one should bear in mind the childless couple and Mrs Hall's failed pregnancies the fact that her mother lived with them throughout their marriage and their great benevolence. The poem begins: 'Yes! we go gently down the hill of life And thank our God at every step we go: The husband-lover and the sweetheart-wife. Of creeping age what do we care or know' Concludes: 'These fading faculties are sent to say Heaven is more near to-day than yesterday.' The poem was published in 1878 in the Literary World.
