A partire dal 1888 ha trascorso con la moglie parte del suo tempo a Cuorgné, interessandosi dei problemi cittadini e degli eventi di quella guerra che proprio in quegli anni esaltava il valore insostituibile degli alpini da lui fortemente voluti.
