Cuningham, W[alter].M.
"J8" A Chronicle of the Neglected Truth About Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company [Co.]
This work takes its title, in part, from Mr. Ford's "Dearborn Independent" magazine which declared itself the "Chronicler of the Neglected Truth". Mr. Cuningham spent five years in the employ of the Ford Motor Company in several departments, including Advertising and Publicity, which "Provided excellent opportunity to study the Ford system". - p.9. "[This] volume is an honest effort to chronicle in simple, every day language the neglected truth about Mr. Ford and his organization". - p.5. "Mr. Ford has been quoted extensively. Excerpts from especially prepared Ford publicity, and from the rare occasions newspaper men actually interviewed him, are reproduced. The quotations thus will serve to refresh the reader's mind, and will help him to measure their true worth when read in conjunction with the writer's statements of fact." - p.6. The twenty-three chapters include such titles as: The Home Wrecker, Eating - An Exact Science, Coercion, Republican or Democrat?, Ford and the Jews, and Natural Attrition. [5], 6-186, [1] pp. 8.25" x 5.25" Undated but appears to be circa 1931. Unmarked with average wear and soiling. Binding intact. A sound vintage copy of this fascinating read. Book

The onetime singer and voice of Barbie's boyfriend started the firm in 1963 as the Pacific Artists Agency one of the first commercial and voice-over talent outfits in Los Angeles. Bill Cunningham the original voice of Barbie's boyfriend Ken and a singer once backed by Fred Astaire who 60 years ago launched the company now known as the CESD Talent Agency has died. He was 96. The founder was 'among the great innovators and gentlemen of the talent representation business' CESD partners Ken Slevin and Paul Doherty said in a statement. 'Bill set the template for client and customer service particularly in commercial voice-over and print. He was a warm gregarious classy man who made a positive impact on all those he represented and employed. It was our honor to know him and to learn from him. With the encouragement of friend and singer Peggy Taylor Cunningham in 1963 invested his life savings into starting the Pacific Artists Agency one of the first commercial and voice-over agencies in Los Angeles. It was located at Crossroads of the World on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. He started the business by creating an album of his 10 voiceover clients and a book of headshots of his on-camera clients complete with handwritten bios then personally dropped them off to producers around town. Pacific Artists became Cunningham & Associates in 1967 and he would open a second office in New York and a third in Chicago as the firm became one of the most successful bicoastal commercial/voice-over agencies in the business. Cunningham retired in 1989 having sold the agency to T.J. Escott and Angela Dipine who in turn sold it in 2005 to Slevin and Doherty. CESD stands for Cunningham-Escott-Slevin-Doherty. He appeared on NBC's Voices of Walter Schumann and The Tennessee Ernie Ford Show sang on motion picture soundtracks for Fox Paramount and Warner Bros. and was the first voice of Ken for Mattel Toys. In 1962 Cunningham saw the release of his debut album I'm Always Chasing Rainbows which was financed by Astaire and he followed that by touring with Judy Garland. He wrote about it in his 2014 autobiography I Wonder What Became of Me.". 1st ed No additional printings listed. Hardcover. New condition/New dust jacket. Curated by DAVID ELLIOTT, ROSA MARTINEZ.
Time present time past. Highlights from 20 years of the International Istanbul Biennial.= Simdiki zaman geçmis zaman: 20 yilda Uluslararasi Istanbul Bienali'nden iz birakanlar. [Exhibition catalogue].
New New English Paperback. 4to. (29 x 23 cm). In English and Turkish. 372, [1] p., color and b/w ills. Time present time past. Highlights from 20 years of the International Istanbul Biennial.= Simdiki zaman geçmis zaman: 20 yilda Uluslararasi Istanbul Bienai'nden iz birakanlar. [Exhibition catalogue]. While documenting the past evolution of the Istanbul Biennial with a view to exploring its future development and possibilities, "Time Present, Time Past" will also include a number of iconic works by both Turkish and international artists that have partaken in the previous Istanbul Biennials. These works will be accompanied by plasma screen documentation of the works from past Biennials shown in situ. The works in the exhibition will be brought from Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Scotland, Spain, Sweden and U.S.A. Co-curated by ¿stanbul Modern Director David Elliott and ¿stanbul Modern Chief Curator Rosa Martínez, the exhibition will open concurrently with the 10th Istanbul Biennial, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The exhibition is designed not only to reveal the ways in which the rapid changes that have taken place in the art world over the past years have been reflected in the Istanbul art scene, but also to show how a generation of young Turkish artists has become integrated within a broader international framework. Twenty years have passed since the Istanbul Biennial first started in 1987. In the early Biennials, works of art selected from across the world were displayed in various parts of the city, including historic areas, museums and cultural sites. Subsequent biennials maintained this approach and extended to "non-art" areas and public spaces. In this process, a wide spectrum of the best in Turkish and global contemporary art was introduced to Turkey and the rest of the world. In putting together "Time Present, Time Past," ¿stanbul Modern asked the eight former Artistic Directors of the Biennial (Beral Madra, Vas¿f Kortun, René Block, Rosa Martínez, Paolo Colombo, Yuko Hasegawa, Dan Cameron, Charles Esche)¿ all well-known international curators in their own right - to select what they felt were the most inspiring and iconic works from the biennials they had organized. Originating from the U.S.A., Germany, Scotland, Spain, Italy, Japan, and Turkey, these curators have assembled a kaleidoscopic vision of the work of many key artists who have left their mark on contemporary culture and art. The exhibition will reflect the transformation of the art scene in Istanbul and the role of the past Biennials within this change, with each curator writing an article for the exhibition catalogue about their experiences of the city, the Biennial they curated and their perspectives on the future. To accompany the exhibition, an extensive illustrated catalogue that examines the evolution of the Biennial over the past twenty years, and gives the views and perspectives of its Artistic Directors from the past to present, will be published. "The Future of Biennials": An International Symposium. In connection with the Opening of the 10th Istanbul Biennial on 6th September and in co-ordination with them, ¿stanbul Modern will organize an international symposium on the 7th and 8th of September 2007. The symposium will be held at the Mimar Sinan University Auditorium in collaboration with AICA Turkey. Sponsored by Garanti Bank, the symposium will be in English with simultaneous translation into Turkish. The symposium will include the previous artistic directors of the past Biennials, as well as Hou Hanru, the artistic director of the 10th Istanbul Biennial, and some of the artists participating in the exhibition. The past, present and future of the Biennials in general and Istanbul Biennial in particular will be discussed from various aspects and a Q and A session will be held for the audience. Moderated by ¿stanbul Modern Director David Elliott, the symposium speakers will include Selim Birsel, René Block, Dan Ca
