Dall'Ucraina al Don. L'ultimo viaggio di Bepi bersagliere 1942
ill., br.

Florida Campbell Prior
Original Handwritten 1969 to 1970 Diary Capturing Life in the American South As One Woman Fills Her Days with Social Visits and Watches the Moon Landing on Television
Madison Georgia. Good with no dust jacket. 1969. Hardcover. On offer is a 1969-1970 American diary from 71-year-old Florida Lamar Poullain Campbell Prior of Madison Georgia. Prior was the descendant of the Poullain and Lamar families who have called Georgia home since the early 1700s. Prior was born in Madison in 1898 and lived her life in that community. She married Walter Truman Prior and had a daughter named Florida C. Prior Jr. Prior passed away in 1991 at the age of 93. Although her name is not inscribed on the book context and the individuals named in her entries point to Priors identity. This diary was printed in 1925 but entries were sporadically made between 1969 and 1970. Prior's writing paints a detailed picture of life in the American South at this time. Personal relationships were very important to Prior and her entries are replete with references to family and friends. She also describes the social events that she participates in and the simple pleasures she experiences in her daily life. "Roy M. Prior passed away around 6: 00 AM. Today. He was my sweet and true friend. We will miss him. Ruth has stayed with us some during his illness and Flo & I have enjoyed being with her" April 11. "Today Florida C Prior Jr & Myself watched astronauts Neil Armstrong & Edwin Aldrin Jr. Walk on the moon & heard Pres. Nixon talk to them from Washington and heard their reply to him. UNBELIEVABLE" July 20. "Claire Stovall Inez W. Kroger Georgia Mallory Marguerite Little Helen de Beaugrine Fanny Harris & Ruth Attaway had lunch with me at Ye Olde Colonial Restaurant. We missed Martha Rhoades & Sara Knight who could not be with us. I enjoyed these sweet friends" July 25. "Mell Burgess Paine invited Flo & I to come to Decater for the day & to go to new S. DeKalb Richs. We took morning train for Atlanta -- first time I have been on this train in over 45 years. It was a great experience" August 20. "Elizabeth Cochran Prior & Roy Prior were married this afternoon at the Apalachee Baptist Church. Martha & Paul Rhoades went with Flo & me. It was very sweet" November 8. The diary measures 7 inches by 5 inches contains 183 pages and is approximately 20 percent complete. The cover binding and pages are all in good condition and the handwriting is quite legible. This small diary offers an interesting grouping of family and friendship links that can flesh out genealogical lines in this historic community and county in Georgia. It also offers insight into life in the South at a time when Americans were landing on the moon and experiencing major social upheaval. ; Manuscripts; 7" x 5"; 183 pages; Keywords: Florida Campbell Prior; Lamar; Lamer; Madison Oaks Inn; 766 East Avenue; Poullain Heights; Morgan County; American South; Georgia; Madison; Historic; The South; Scull Shoals; Antoinne Poullain; Rebecca Lamar; Sarah Poullain Campbell; Thomas Poullain; Ye Olde Colonial Restaurant; Apalachee Baptist Church; Moon Landing; Moon Walk; Neil Armstrong; Edwin Aldrin Jr; Buzz Aldrin; AMERICANA; HANDWRITTEN; MANUSCRIPT; DOCUMENT; LETTER; AUTOGRAPH; WRITER; HAND WRITTEN; DOCUMENTS; SIGNED; LETTERS; MANUSCRIPTS; DIARY; DIARIES; JOURNALS; PERSONAL HISTORY; SOCIAL HISTORY; HISTORICAL; HOLOGRAPH; WRITERS; AUTOGRAPHS; PERSONAL; MEMOIR; MEMORIAL; ANTIQUITÉ CONTRAT; VÉLIN; DOCUMENT; MANUSCRIT; PAPIER ANTIKE; BRIEF; PERGAMENT; DOKUMENT; MANUSKRIPT; PAPIER OGGETTO D'ANTIQUARIATO; ATTO; VELINA; DOCUMENTO; MANOSCRITTO; CARTA ANTIGÜEDAD; HECHO; VITELA; DOCUMENTO; MANUSCRITO; PAPEL . hardcover

Storia della nobiltà in Sardegna. Genealogia e araldica delle famiglie nobili sarde
br.

FLORRIE
1889 ORIGINAL CHARMING MANUSCRIPT DIARY HANDWRITTEN BY A YOUNG BRITISH TEENAGER LIVING IN SWITZERLAND
LAUSANNE SWITZERLAND. Good. 1889. On offer is a small original and charming manuscript relic of one young British teenage girl named Florrie who travels to Switzerland in 1889. The book a birthday gift from Dudley her brother perhaps was received on January 28 1889. She began using it immediately and wrote in it every day until July 1st when entries come to a sudden end. Florrie writes about her day to day life: social visits tasks around the house lessons attending Church and Bible Class etc. The family may have been of Scottish descent as she regularly mentions the Scotch Church. She spends time with friends and family all of whom are named. Amusingly the person she spends most time with they see each other almost daily is only referred to as 'German girl.' Florrie wrote most of the diary in pencil and her writing requires patience due to the small size and Florrie's rather untidy writing but all entries can be made out. The 2½ x 3¼ inch book has gold silk covered boards and spine with floral decoration decorative gilt patterned endpapers pencil holder complete with original bone tipped pencil. Gilt to all page edges. Small label for stationers in Lausanne. Overall G.; Manuscript; 64mo - up to 3" tall; KEYWORDS: HISTORY OF BRITISH TRAVELLER TO SWITZERLAND GREAT BRITAIN BRITANNICA 19TH CENTURY VICTORIAN VICTORIAN ERA TRAVEL BRITIAN TO SWITZERLAND LAUSANNE SCOTCH CHURCH WOMEN'S STUDIES PERSONAL STORIES GENDER STUDIES HANDWRITTEN MANUSCRIPT AUTOGRAPHED AUTHORS DOCUMENT LETTER AUTOGRAPH KEEPSAKE WRITER HAND WRITTEN DOCUMENTS SIGNED LETTERS MANUSCRIPTS HISTORICAL HOLOGRAPH WRITERS AUTOGRAPHS PERSONAL MEMOIR MEMORIAL PERSONAL HISTORY ARCHIVE DIARY DIARIES JOURNAL LOG PRIMARY SOURCE FIRST HAND ACCOUNT SOCIAL HISTORY PERSONAL STORIES LIVING HISTORY ANTIQUITÉ CONTRAT VÉLIN DOCUMENT MANUSCRIT PAPIER ANTIKE BRIEF PERGAMENT DOKUMENT MANUSKRIPT PAPIER OGGETTO D'ANTIQUARIATO ATTO VELINA DOCUMENTO MANOSCRITTO CARTA ANTIGÜEDAD HECHO VITELA DOCUMENTO MANUSCRITO PAPEL BIOGRAPHY BIOGRAPHICAL AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY PERSONAL NARRATIVES . hardcover

FLOYD F BIGAREL
1923 ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT DIARY OF A HARDWORKING UPSTATE NEW YORK FARMER WHO DETAILS THE POST WORLD WAR I RURAL LIFE OF A DAIRYMAN
HALIESBORO GOUVERNEUR ST LAWRENCE COUNTY NY. Very Good. 1923. Hardcover. On offer is an interesting post World War I 1923 manuscript relic of rural living and commerce in upstate New York being the handwritten diary of farmer Floyd F. Bigarel of Gouverneur New York St. Lawrence County. Floyd does not identify himself in the book but ephemera contained all bear his name and he celebrates his birth as census records find that he was born March 20th 1890 d. November 1971 thusly 33 years old at the writing and confirming ownership. Floyd does a good job detailing his life: he never fails to note the weather conditions his jobs for the day his personal entertainments visits personal appointments to Church or to the Hailesboro Democrat League meetings etc. etc. Sometimes however he leaves a very enigmatic note: "Stayed home today for a wonder." Researchers and historians will be happy with the details of his economy and commerce as he specifies the price of daily purchases whether expenses to the farm or a 10 cent loaf of bread for himself. He also fully names his contacts and friends and notes passings and news: "Viola Hall Farmer died today of Tuberculosis aged 37". It appears to be a busy dairy farm but of course he does much more; harvesting ice sells drinking water from well washing heffers cutting and hauling lumber having a wolf tooth removed from two horses using a milking machine for the first time and much much more. This large 9 x 8 inch page a day book is full and overall VG.; Manuscript; 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall; KEYWORDS: HISTORY OF FLOYD F. Flynn, Ray; & Michael J Flynn (signed)
Confessions of a Mob Hitman signed
St. Louis: Ransch Views 2007. INSCRIBED / SIGNED by Michael J. Flynn on the front inside cover. This is a first-person autobiographical account by Ray Flynn of his time as "the last member of the St. Louis Buster Wortman gang." His son Michael J. Flynn provides a preface and chapter entitled "Conclusion." Some reviewers say Michael or someone else must have added additional information that Ray could not have known about partly because it happened after he died in prison in 2002. A solid reading/reference copy in only Good condition. The cover is mildly rubbed. One corner of the rear cover is bumped/creased affecting a few pages at the end - but in the margin only - NO text is affected. Dog ear to the corner of three leaves. Flat uncreased spine. Bright and shiny. NO fading. Square and tight. NOT a library discard. NOT a remainder. Pages are clean and unmarked. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. Illustrated with b/w photos/documents in the text. Bound in the original white pictorial wraps printed in red and black. From a review: "From about 1960 on the first-person account of Ray Flynn's life in the mob is well worth the price of admission
The publication is not worth the high price of admission neither is the writing. But then again Ray Flynn was not a professional writer so he should be cut some slack on that aspect of the book." From a different reviewer: "I have been searching and searching for years on the murder of my grandfather at the "hands" or at the "hit" of Buster Wortman. 53 years later after many hours of speaking to lots of people I have tracked down and numerous hours on the internet I see my grandfathers name in this book. It brought tears seeing this. Today I'm still in shock over it. I did enjoy the book otherwise.". INSCRIBED / SIGNED by Michael J. Flynn. First Edition so stated. Softcover. Good condition. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 165pp. Great Packaging Fast Shipping. Ransch Views Paperback

The book and its contents are in mostly clean bright condition. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some light bumping and beginning fraying. The spine of the book has some generalized sunning / fading. The text pages are clean and bright. "It was while in St. Petersburg that he first took place in a police raid. 2 Shortly after returning to the United States in 1898 he received an invitation from railroad executive L. F. After a month of this he decided he could do the job while riding in comfort as a passenger. After several years of experience as a vagrant he had published Tramping with Tramps in 1899 a picaresque study. FMB[UETTNER?] F M B
1905 ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT DIARY HANDWRITTEN BY A YOUNG AMERICAN GIRL ON HER WAY TO STUDY PIANO AT ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST PRESTIGIOUS MUSIC CONSERVATORIES
BERLIN GERMANY. Good. 1905. On offer is an interesting original 1905 manuscript diary handwritten by a young woman identified on the inside cover by the initials F.M.B. We believe the 'B' stands for Buettner the surname name of her uncle. Researchers and historians will have many many clues to use to confirm or deny as she is prodigious mentioning the names of all she comes in contact with. The diary starts off with our author and her friend Gertrude in the States heading to St. Louis through Burlington on board the train. They are heading to New York to catch the ocean liner Kronprinz Wilhelm which takes them to Berlin Germany. The reason our author is heading to Europe is because she is to study piano we believe at the famed Stern Conservatory in Berlin under the tutorship of Professor Gustav Hollaender. There are 109 well filed handwritten pages and the first 13 pages have to do with her trip to New York and on the ship and the rest have to do with her time in Germany. She is a wonderful writer - here are some snippets: 1905 "It has always been my ambition to make a trip to Europe for a combined visit for pleasure and study. How often have I longed for a time when everyday would be a holiday. Now in the year 1905 it seems that my dream is to come true for Thursday July 27th finds me leaving home and dear one for a year beyond the deep blue sea. Gertrude and I leave at 10 in the morning and go to St. Louis via Burlington. The day is cool and rainy. Paul met us at the depot at 5:50 and we took the Suburban RR for his home. I had to wear a white handkerchief tied around my arm so he would recognize us. It began to pour and we had a terrible experience walking at least 8 blocks in mud and high weeds. Our arms and hands were nearly out of joint carrying so many things
she goes on to talk about her nights stay at Paul's home until they left the next morning at 8:20 on the "Big Four"
.Indianapolis Indiana has a large depot. Ate supper on the dining car $1.00. Train went so fast that a swell colored waiter lost his balance and nearly fell on me. Changed trains at Cleveland Ohio at 11 o'clock at night
." "August 1st We got up on this memorable day at 5 o'clock and managed to dress very nicely. I wore a short black skirt a plaid silk waist a white cap white gloves and a light blue veil. The night before we had a shower of letters from our loved ones. Another surprise was that Ger---name was put on the door slate as Elsie. When we entered our cabin we saw 2 steamer chairs which had been sent to us by Mr. Wallace. The steamer left the pier at 8 o'clock and I had a bad spell of crying. But I tried to be brave and soon felt fine. We passed the beautiful Statue of Liberty. We have a fine place on deck for our chairs also a fine place at `1st table. No land in sight at 9 o'clock. Saw the pilot leave the ship. My number at the table is 163. Gertrude is on one side and a young man on other. The napkins at the table are about 1 mile square. There is no drinking water anywhere last night and Ger and I took two good swallows of "schnapps". I was the only woman at the table." "August 3rd Very damp in the morning. Spent day with Mr. and Mrs. Noel. In the eve Mr. Tarr took me to the first cabin to hear the concert. I saw the beautiful parlors library dining room etc. we promenaded for a while and then sat on upper deck and talked. At 9 o'clock I went to the eve concert in our cabin with Mr. and Mrs. Noel and had a fine time." "August 5th Took pictures. The dog "Noble" sat on my lap what a wonder! Remember the "slop barrel". A case of small pox in 1st cabin reported. Ma Tarr brought me some peanuts. The fellow we call "The Anarchist" and who is looking for a wife makes great efforts to cultivate my acquaintances. Went to the eve concert with Mr. and Mrs. Noel." In Bremerhaven they take a few weeks I believe to see the sights and on August 30th she writes: "The day started in with a heavy rain. Went to the Conservatory and were ushered into a waiting room. Then the director Prof. Gustav Hollander examined us and told me I have such talent that he would have me take of Prof. Bohlmann instead of Prof. Dreyschock. Price 450 mks. We wrote out our programs at home. In the afternoon Uncle Franz Buettner came over in the eve." HISTORICAL NOTES: "It was a private school in Berlin with many notable tutors and alumni. It was originally founded in 1850 at the Berliner Musikschule by Julius Stern Theodor Kullak and Adolf Bernhard Marx. It was originally founded in 1850 as the Berliner Musikschule by Julius Stern Theodor Kullak and Adolf Bernhard Marx. Kullak withdrew from the conservatory in 1855 in order to create a new academy of sculpture and three-dimensional art. With Marx's withdrawal in 1856 the conservatory came exclusively under the Stern family and adopted its name. In 1894 it was taken over by Gustav Hollaender the uncle of film composer Friedrich Hollaender who moved the school's location to the Berlin Philharmonic concert hall on Bernburger Strasse in Berlin-Kreuzberg. In the course of the Gleichschaltung process the Stern Academy in 1936 was renamed Konservatorium der Reichshauptstadt Berlin controlled by the Nazi regime. Gustav Hollaender's heirs were diseased but for a few years they were able to run a "Jewish Private Music School Hollaender" until they were deported and murdered in 1941. After the end of the Second World War in 1945 the school was again renamed as the Städtisches Konservatorium City Conservatory in what was to become West Berlin. In 1966 it was merged with the public Akademische Hochschule für Musik into the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Berlin State School of Music and the Performing Arts since 2001 the Berlin."
