L'autore è l'avvocato, scrittore e latinista Nicolas Chorier.

Titolo ed antiporta incisi in rame e colorati all'epoca, quest'ultimo raffigura una fanciulla circondata da amorini e corteggiata da svariati uomini. Falsa edizione elzeviriana, curata da Meunier de Querlon "qui prétendait avoir collationné onze éditions précédentes" (Gay), di celebre opera dal contenuto erotico e licenzioso, già pubblicata nel XVII secolo. Falsamente attribuita all'erudito archeologo Jo. Meursius, è invece di Nicholas Chorier, avvocato generale al Parlamento di Grenoble. "Jamais Louise Sigea, savante et vertueuse Portugaise, n'eut la pensé de publier un pareil ouvrage, rempli de beaucoup d'enfamies, écrites d'une latinité très-pure" (Quérard).
