Es ist eine Beschreibung der künstlerischen Leistungen berühmter Homosexueller von der Antike bis zu Neuzeit (u.a. von Plato, Catull, Vergil, Martial über Leonhardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Shakespeare zu Winckelmann, Goethe, Schiller, Byron). Im dritten Teil "Im Jahrhundert der Wissenschaft" werden von Frey ausführlich Zschokke, Hössli, Iffland, Vacano, Hendrichs, Grillparzer und Ulrichs behandelt. Sie letzten beiden S. (353/354) enthalten den "Anhang", ein Verzeichnis der bis 1869 erschienenen Schriften Carl Heinrich Ulrichs und eine "Auflistung der namhaftesten, in der jüngsten Zeit erschienen Schriften über die Urningsnatur". Innendeckel mit hübschem Holzschnitt-Exlibris von Max Menge. Einband nur gering berieben. Erste und letzte Seiten leicht stockfleckig. Gutes Exemplar dieses sehr seltenen und für die Schwulengeschichte bedeutenden Werks.
