‎In-12, broché, couverture papier gris d'attente, 24 p. faux-titre et titre inclus, titre dans un encadrement, vignette de titre, bandeaux et culs-de-lampe gravés sur bois. Première édition séparée. L'oeuvre poétique du galant cardinal remporta les suffrages de ses contemporains et au-delà: "Les grâces, la délicatesse , les richesses de l'imagination brillent. Son poème offre quatre tableaux enchanteurs, où le peintre a su répandre des couleurs fraîches et naturelles (...). Appelé aux négociations importantes, et à l'épiscopat, le cardinal de Bernis renonça aux muses, et ne regarda les faveurs qu'il en avait reçues que comme les plaisirs de sa jeunesse" en dit la comtesse de Beaufort d'Hautpoul dans son "Cours de littérature ancienne, moderne et étrangère" (1830). Protégé de Mme de Pompadour, le cardinal de Bernis (1715-1794) devint ambassadeur à Venise en 1752, ministre d'État en 1757 et des Affaires étrangères la même année. Il était l'ami de Mme de Tencin, de Duclos et de. Voltaire qui, par allusion à son style fleuri, l'avait surnommé "Babet la bouquetière". Cette édition en 24 pages est rare. WorldCat n'en recense qu'un unique exemplaire. Elle manque à la BnF. Bon exemplaire.‎

‎* Carl Albrecht Bernoulli, Pseudonym Ernst Kilchner (* 10. Januar 1868 in Basel; ? 13. Februar 1937 in Arlesheim) war ein Schweizer evangelischer Theologe und Schriftsteller. Bernoulli war der Sohn des Juristen Carl Johann Bernoulli aus der Familie Bernoulli. An der Universität Basel studierte er Theologie, vor allem bei Bernhard Duhm und Franz Overbeck. Später wechselte er an die Hochschulen von Straßburg und Marburg. 1894 erreichte er das Lizentiat und im darauffolgenden Jahr wurde er Privatdozent für Kirchengeschichte in Basel. Diese Funktion füllte er bis 1897 aus. In diesem Jahr debütierte er als Schriftsteller unter dem Pseudonym ?Ernst Kilchner? mit dem Roman Lucas Heland. Ende des gleichen Jahres veröffentlichte er eine Schrift zur Kirchengeschichte, die als Habilitation anerkannt wurde. Er verzichtete aber auf eine Lehrbefugnis und war seit 1898 freier Schriftsteller. Bis an sein Lebensende publizierte er sowohl Belletristisches (auch Festspiele) als auch Wissenschaftliches, u. a. zur Kirchengeschichte. Nach dem Tod seines Lehrers Overbeck verteidigte er diesen öffentlich gegen Anschuldigungen aus dem Nietzsche-Archiv, namentlich von Seiten Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsches. Sein zweibändiges Werk Friedrich Nietzsche und Franz Overbeck. Eine Freundschaft, erschienen 1908 im Diederichs Verlag, kann als das Standardwerk der ?Basler Tradition? in der Nietzscheforschung gelten, die das verklärende Nietzsche-Bild des Weimarer Archivs geraderücken wollte. Im zweiten Band musste wegen eines von Heinrich Köselitz angestrengten Verfahrens eine Reihe von Stellen zunächst geschwärzt und dann ganz gestrichen werden (siehe Näheres unter Nietzsche-Archiv#Das Basler ?Gegenarchiv?). Bernoulli gab auch Schriften aus dem Nachlass Overbecks heraus. In der aktuellen Werkausgabe Overbecks ist Bernoullis Kompilation Christentum und Kultur aus Overbecks Nachlassbeständen mit Herkunftsnachweisen und kritischem Apparat nachgedruckt. Bernoulli wurde gelegentlich kritisiert, den öffentlichen Streit zu suchen und etwa in den Prozessen gegen das Nietzsche-Archiv mit Sensationalismus dem Andenken seines Lehrers Overbeck und auch Nietzsches zu schaden. Die Jahre 1898 bis 1901 war er abwechselnd in Paris und London tätig. 1901 heiratete er Paula Heydenreich und lebte mit ihr die folgenden fünf Jahre in London und Berlin. 1906 ließ er sich in Arlesheim nieder und lebte dort für den Rest seines Lebens. 1922 übernahm er als Privatdozent für Religionsgeschichte in Basel das Ryhnersche Lektorat und wurde dann auch 1926 zum ausserordentlichen Professor für Kirchengeschichte ernannt. Im Alter von 69 Jahren starb Carl Albrecht Bernoulli am 13. Februar 1937 in Arlesheim. Seine letzte Ruhestätte fand er auf dem Friedhof am Hörnli. (Quelle Wikipedia)‎

An attractive collection of poems by one of the key members of the New York School. SCARCE SIGNED. <br /><br />This book was published by Frontward Books which was started by Bob Rosenthal and Rochelle Kraut. According to Rosenthal Berrigan taught him how to use a mimeograph machine when Berrigan was teaching at Northwestern and Rosenthal was attending his classes. "In all the press published nine mimeographed books noteworthy for their often hand-colored covers with drawings by Rochelle Kraut" according to Steven Clay and Rodney Phillips "A Secret Location on the Lower East Side" pages 218-219. A book of poems and prose INSCRIBED on the front end paper by Ted Berrigan to fellow poet Terry Jacobus: "For Terry in Chicago / at Dinner / 2 May 72. / 'The last of the / First Editions.' / Love / Ted." Additionally signed in full on the title page; Berrigan has crossed out his name as printed on the page and signed with his own signature. A nice association from Berrigan's days in Chicago. This is the wrappers edition featuring a cover and drawings by George Schneeman. There were two other simultaneous issues--a hardcover trade edition and a signed limited edition. No priority. See Aaron Fischer Ted Berrigan: An Annotated Checklist page 41. Small 4to 9 7/8 x 6 1/2 inches / 245 x 165 mm 106 pages in printed wrappers. Bump to one corner edge wear a bit of soiling to the top edge and fore edge and some very light toning to the pages. Slight lean. Overall a Very Good copy of one of the strongest collections by Ted Berrigan 1934-1983 and a nice association with a fellow poet. <br/><br/> Cape Goliard Press and Grossman Publishers hardcover books‎

‎New York: Angel Hair Books 1977. First Edition First Printing. Small 4to 6 7/8 x 10 inches 175 x 255 mm 112 pages perfect-bound in wrappers. Wrappers lightly rubbed spot of whiteout to rear wrapper couple small stains to fore-edge slight bumps to corners and spine ends light crease to front wrapper and a few subsequent pages. Interior clean and bright. Overall a Very Good copy. INSCRIBED on the front free end paper: "Ted Berrigan / For Ken Anne / in NYC / 1981." Berrigan has also drawn a heart with the number 500 in it. The recipients were Ken and Ann Mikolowski founders of the Alternative Press. For many years the Alternative Press published broadsides and other printed material by subscription including poems by Berrigan. A nice association. Cover art and frontispiece drawing of Berrigan by George Schneeman. This is from an edition of 1000 copies 26 of which were signed by both Berrigan and Schneeman. ‎New York: Grove Press Inc. 1967. First Edition Thus. INSCRIBED by Ted Berrigan on the front end paper: "For / Ken / & Anne / With / Love-- / Ted Berrigan." A warm inscription to publishers Ann and Ken Mikolowski; Berrigan was a regular contributor to the couple's Alternative Press publications. Over three decades the Mikolowskis published a variety of poets writers and artists; these works were often stuffed into manila envelopes and sent to subscribers. Our copy is the first printing of the first trade edition of Berrigan's most famous work. It follows the rare 1964 mimeographed version published by Lorenz and Ellen Gude. Grove published this edition in 1967 although the only date present is the 1964 copyright. See Aaron Fischer "Ted Berrigan An Annotated Checklist" page 29. Small 8vo 7 7/8 x 5 1/4 inches / 200 x 135 mm 72 pages in side-stapled wrappers. Some rubbing and edge wear to the wrappers very light creasing to lower page edges. Interior bright and clean. Additionally signed in full on the title page; Berrigan has crossed out his name as printed on the page and signed with his own signature. A nice association from Berrigan's days in Chicago.</p><p>This is the wrappers edition featuring a cover and drawings by George Schneeman. There were two other simultaneous issues--a hardcover trade edition and a signed limited edition. No priority. See Aaron Fischer Ted Berrigan: An Annotated Checklist page 41.</p><p>CONDITION: Bump to one corner edge wear a bit of soiling to the top edge and fore edge and some very light toning to the pages. Slight lean.
