Nothing for Tigers with light marginal dampstains; all other volumes internally pristine and with only the most trivial defects to the bindings see below.<br/> <br/> American poet Hayden Carruth 1921-2008 was the author of more than 30 works and the recipient of numerous awards including the National Book Award the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Lannan Literary Award. As noted by the Poetry Foundation Carruth's writing is "characterized by a calm tightly controlled and relatively 'plain' language that belies the intensity of feeling behind the words." The present seven works offered as a group represent more than 30 years of his long literary career. The poetry in these volumes is both gritty and playful inspired by nature country living and jazz as well as Carruth's own personal experiences and struggles with alcoholism anxiety and abandonment. As indicated by the inscriptions given below these works all come from the collection of Laure-Anne Bosselaar b. 1943 and her husband Kurt Brown 1944-2013. Bosselaar is a Belgian-American poet translator and editor who has published numerous works of poetry in multiple languages including five collections of her own works. She has been given various prizes and recognitions Pushcart Isabella Gardner Breadloaf and was named Poet Laureate of Santa Barbara in 2019. Sometimes publishing jointly with Bosselaar Brown was also a prolific poet and editor of anthologies as well as the founder of the Aspen Writer's Conference playing a pivotal role in shaping its early vision and establishing Aspen as a literary center. Hayden Carruth and his poet wife Joe-Anne McLaughlin Carruth were good friends of Bosselaar and Brown and the couples would spend time together when visiting their respective cities. Ottimo esemplare, fresco e pulito, appena fiorito al dorso Rarissima opera seconda di Sebastiano Carta: ICCU registra solo tre copie (Centrale Firenze, Fondazione Gramsci e Fondazione Caetani a Roma) cui OCLC aggiunge la sola copia della Beinecke Library di Yale, con dedica autografa a Benedetta Cappa Marinetti; una sola inserzione nel database storico del sito di vendita Maremagnum. Esemplata formalmente come l’opera prima «Le case», con copertina interamente composta attorno a un disegno dell’artista romano di origine russa Giovanni Ketoff, altrimenti noto come «Chetof», «Chetofi» o «Chetoffi», al secolo Ivan Ketov (1916-1968), che espose con i futuristi lungo tutti gli anni trenta fino alle soglie della seconda guerra mondiale. Lo stesso artista firma il ritratto dell’autore all’antiporta. Rispetto a «Le case», in «Campo mobile» Ketoff impiega un uno stile espressionista astratto, violentemente schizzato, che ben si accorda al sorprendente contenuto del libro: dedicato «ai soldatissimi d’Africa» in occasione della campagna d’Etiopia, esso si articola in sezioni dai titoli «manifesto di stato n. 1», «tono di marcia n. 1» e «n. 2», «sosta n. 1», «battaglia navale n. 1», entro cui si svolgono «versi strozzati, caratterizzati interruzioni continue, che suggeriscono l’idea di un montaggio semiautomatico» (Salaris, Futurismo letterario a Roma, in Casa Balla e il futurismo a Roma, 1989) tipici di questo autore. Raccolta di poesie tra modernismo e avanguardia, impaginata in stile molto moderno e particolarmente pregiata da una splendida copertina dell’artista romano di origine russa Giovanni Ketoff, altrimenti noto come «Chetof», «Chetofi» o «Chetoffi», al secolo Ivan Ketov (1916-1968), che espose con i futuristi lungo tutti gli anni trenta fino alle soglie della seconda guerra mondiale. Per «Le case» dell’amico e collega Sebastiano Carta (espongono insieme con Carlo Belli da Bragaglia nel 1934), Ketoff inventa un disegno astratto di chiara derivazione neoplastica ma di impatto costruttivista, che risulta modernissimo anche ai giorni nostri. «La sua attività di futurista è stata ben messa in luce da Claudia Salaris, che lo ha definito “la figura più interessante del futurismo letterario romano degli anni trenta” e che ne ha collocato l’esperienza in ambito futursimultaneista [...] per la sintesi da lui operata tra futurismo ed ermetismo [...]. Marinetti definisce i sui interventi poetici “poesia sintetica, astratta, mosaica”, perché caratterizzata da un “livello minimale di linguaggio, da versi strozzati, interruzioni continue, che suggeriscono l’idea di un montaggio semiautomatico» (Salaris, Futurismo letterario a Roma, in Casa Balla e il futurismo a Roma, 1989)” (Diz. Nella poesia di Mircea Cartarescu - capofila della generazione dei poeti e scrittori degli anni '80 vissuti sotto il regime di Ceausescu - niente è quello che sembra: il lavandino s'innamora delle stelle stampate sulla tenda di plastica della cucina e lo confida ai barattoli di mostarda nella dispensa e alle stoviglie nello scolapiatti; la motocicletta parcheggiata accanto alla vetrina del negozio che ripara televisori s'interroga sull'esistenza sotto la volta stellata; l'amore compare in tuta da sci, le biblioteche nazionali diventano chewing-gum. Dalla sua vasta produzione in versi l'autore rumeno ha espressamente scelto i testi per quest'edizione italiana, a disegnare un movimentato "autoritratto" nella traduzione di Bruno Mazzoni.
