Pensieri e poesie di uno scugnizzo senza tempo
br. Scrivere, per la prima volta un qualcosa di meraviglioso, creato dal cuore, mi è sembrato di toccare la luna con le mani. Eppure, in modo semplice e rapido, sono stato trasportato dal mio cuore ribelle a esternare quello che sentivo e provato nei miei momenti, tristi e belli della mia vita. Il titolo è venuto fuori, per ricordare, la figura importante di questi ragazzi, esclusi in modo negativo dalla società, eppure sono stati in seguito apprezzati, dedicando loro una statua. In piccola parte, mi sento uno di loro. Il cuore è stato fondamentale in questo lavoro e se non si possiede o si fa finta di essere ciechi, non si potrà mai capire in realtà cos'è la vita e l'amore.

Per l’Accademia di Passione tenuta in Brindisi la mattina del Lunedì Santo 13 aprile 1829 nella Chiesa de’ Padri Teresiani sotto la presidenza dell’Arcivescovo D. Pietro Consiglio Capricci Poetici di Giambattista de Tomasi di Gallipoli socio di varie adunanze letterarie d’Italia.
In 8° (18,7x12,3 cm); 38, (2 b.) pp. e una c. di tav. più volte ripiegata. Senza brossura ma non slegato. Prima non comune edizione, 4 soli esemplari censiti in ICCU, di questo scritto composto dal noto studioso della lingua messapica, autore di vari scritti di letteratura e archeologia e giudice della Gran Corte Criminale, appartenente alla nobile famiglia dei De Tomasi di Gallipoli, Giambattista de Tomasi. De Tomasi fu uno dei primi a studiare la popolazione dei Messapi, un'antica popolazione italica stanziatasi nella Messapia, in un territorio corrispondente alla Murgia meridionale e al Salento (province di Lecce, di Brindisi e parte della provincia di Taranto). Dedicatoria all’arcivescovo di Brindisi D. Pietro Consiglio. L’opera, oltre a presentare un componimento poetico di De Tomasi contiene anche una lunga dissertazione sull’origine del nome Salento a partire dal poeta romano antico Floro e varie nozioni di linguistica materia molto cara all’autore. Molto curiosa la tavola finale fuori testo. Prima edizione che a parte l’assenza della brossura si presenta in buone condizioni di conservazione. Opera stampata a Napoli da Marotta e Vanspandoch. Non comune.

Queste poesie ci regalano attimi di piacevole abbandono che profumano di delicata e sconvolgente passione. Si viaggia verso spazi sconfinati del nostro essere, alla ricerca di una realtà, alla quale non riusciamo a dare forma senza l'ausilio della nostra sensibilità. La forza della natura attraverso i suoi elementi costitutivi crea scenari, dove ora le rondini o i gabbiani, ora il mare, il vento, la sabbia, la terra diventano metafore delle forze che agiscono nell'animo umano, realizzando la stessa, mutevole, alternanza di emozioni. Queste poesie sono un sorta di viaggio autobiografico ma per l'atmosfera intima, di cui sono infarcite, diventano per ogni lettore un viaggio attraverso le sue stesse emozioni.

br. "Sotto il segno di HPL" è un'antologia curata da Gianfranco de Turris a cui hanno preso parte numerosi scrittori che omaggiano il Maestro di Providence, H.P. Lovecraft, ponendolo al centro di racconti ispirati alla sua vita e alle sue opere in cui, come protagonista, affronta problemi che spaziano dal piano dell'inconscio a quello dimensionale, temporale, onirico e pratico. Ma non è solo questo, il volume contribuisce all'immortalità letteraria di Lovecraft facendogli assumere un ruolo che non è solo quello dello scrittore ma soprattutto di uomo; ecco quindi che renderlo personaggio diventa un mezzo per spiegare i suoi valori, certi dettagli della sua vita e della sua personalità. L'influenza che egli ebbe sull'immaginario collettivo, e lo ha tutt'oggi, gli ha permesso di raggiungere il livello di mito, soprattutto per coloro i quali si collocano sotto il segno di HPL.

Titled spine in gilt with OXFORD 1842 at tail. Original yellow end papers. . A few spots of discolouration to cover minor . Pages 2 & 3 have a few marks which show as foxing along the margin. There are some out of sequence paginations which seem to be due to a lax typesetter and I have collated the book as complete and in order it seems the text is proper but the pagination wrong. There are a few pages where the margins have light finger marks one page has a few pencil lines. At rear is the scarce errata slip and four words have been underlined in contemporary ink on this slip. Rear free end paper has a small pencil name. Top edge dusty. A very scarce little book of poetry. In the text there are vignette illustrations and head and tailpieces. A charming book and the authors first work. A disciple and intimate of Wordsworth he was also influenced by Cardinal Newman. First Edition. Original Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6 - 7 tall. John Henry Parker hardcover
