The Committee for Communist Unity and Vanguard were both mouthpieces of the Maoist Welsh Communist A. H. Evans who was born in the village of Aber Clydach near Talybont on Usk Breconshire. Anti War, Counterculture
Large Anti-Vietnam War Activism Poster 1970
1970. Anti-WarVietnam War Counterculture Stop the War poster c. 1970. Lithographic print. Measures approx. 23" x 34". Dated in pen in upper right corner "5/9/70". Powerful anti-war protest poster from the Vietnam War era featuring bold red brushstroke-style text reading "Stop the War." above a large peace symbol integrated into the word "Stop." The raw hand-painted aesthetic reflects the urgency and grassroots nature of the anti-war movement which saw mass protests student activism and resistance to U.S. military intervention in Southeast Asia. Posters like this were a crucial tool for mobilizing public sentiment against the Vietnam War often appearing in demonstrations college campuses and underground press publications. The Vietnam War 1955–1975 was a deeply divisive conflict sparking widespread opposition due to its immense human cost the draft system and revelations of U.S. military actions abroad. By the late 1960s and early 1970s the anti-war movement had grown into a major political force pressuring policymakers and contributing to the eventual withdrawal of U.S. troops. This poster embodies the visual language of resistance linking it to the broader tradition of protest art that shaped 20th-century political movements. Very good condition. A moving testament to the anti-war movement of the 1960s and 70s. unknown

Barsky urging Americans to contact the Vichy French Embassy and the U.S. Secretary of State to intervene in the forced deportation of European anti-fascists to the Sahara Desert. The Pro German Pétain authoritarian government participated in Jewish expulsions and turned France into a quasi-police state arresting and deporting dissenting activists. The flyer boasts outrage as "The Pertain Government plans to deport to the Sahara Desert over 100000 anti-fascist refugees; they are being condemned to forced labor in the construction of the Trans-Saharan Railroad; thousands have been deported already.". Even so he surfaces the expansive nature of those who are being deported noting that "These 100000 include interned soldiers of Republican Spain men of the international brigades Germans Czechs Poles Yugoslavs Greeks Hungarians Italians Austrians and even Frenchmen". In a stark call to action Barsky encourages the reader to "Write or wire ambassador Gaston Henri-Haye French Embassy Washington D.C. Insist that the deportations to certain death in the Sahara be stopped immediately". Interesting and early example of a warning to the U.S. public of the Fascist induced refugee crisis and of Jewish people in concentration camps. In very good condition. No copies in OCLC Worldcat as per this writing. unknown

Antill Peter
Berlino 1945. La fine del Terzo Reich
ill., br.

ANTOINE H. POIDEBARD, (1878-1955).
[VOYAGE AT THE CROSSROADS OF THE PERSIAN ROUTES] Iran yollari mültekasinda seyahat. [= Voyages; au carrefour des routes de Perse]. Translated by Nazmi-Emin.
Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) ÖNT14 In aesthetic modern dark black cloth bdg. with Ottoman lettered gilt and embossing. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In Ottoman script. [4], 138 p., 1 folding huge map. Hegira: 1341 = Gregorian: 1925. First and Only Edition. A rare travel book printed in the Ottoman Empire. Antoine Poidebard, (1878-1955) was a French archaeologist and Jesuit missionary. He pioneered aerial archaeology in the Middle East. In 1925, during his flights in the Syrian desert, Poidebard discovered tiny reliefs thanks to the shadows brought to the ground by the evening shining light, which revealed geometric structures. It was on this basis that he became the first known airborne prospector, as he was able to map all the layout of the Roman limes using the technical means of the air force. Aerial archeology was born. The air explorer Raymond Chevallier identifies two periods of study in the works of Antoine Poidebard: A first, from 1925 to 1932, during which the researches of Antoine Poidebard fixed the course of the Imperial Limes of Basrah at Palmyra and the Tigris; A second, from 1932 to 1942, which made it possible to specify the Roman organization of the rear of the Euphrates and the Orontes. The result of his work is 550 hours of flight divided into 250 missions during which were taken thousands of photographs on a zone of 1,000 kilometers over 300 kilometers. Only one copy in OCLC: 949521769; Koray 1779.; Özege: 9312.
