BRADFORD, Augustus W
Proclamation by the Governor
Annapolis MD: State of Maryland Executive Department 1863. Paperback. Self-cover. 8vo. 4pp. Very good. Minor binding traces. Clean and bright with an attractive Maryland state seal at upper left of the first page. This November 2nd proclamation "To the Citizens of the State and more especially the Judges of Election" indignantly protests a military order stating that "evil disposed persons" found in Maryland and tolerated by state officials would be attempting to disrupt elections and authorized military personnel and provost marshals to arrest persons loitering about polling places. The text of General Schenck's October 27th General Order No. 53 giving this direction is included as is Lincoln's directive revoking the offensive portion of Schenck's order. Uncommon. THE MARINES OF AUTUMN A Novel of the Korean War
Minor shelfwear. ; War has been the inspiration of such great novels as The Red Badge of Courage and A Farewell to Arms, and daring feats of courage and tragic mistakes have been the foundation for such classic works. Now, for the first time ever, the Korean War has a novel that captures that courage and sacrifice. When Captain Thomas Verity, USMC, is called back to action, he must leave his Georgetown home, career, and young daughter and rush to Korea to monitor Chinese radio transmissions. At first acting in an advisory role, he is abruptly thrust into MacArthur's last daring and disastrous foray-the Chosin Reservoir campaign-and then its desperate retreat. ; 274 pages

BRAGAGLIA, Anton Giulio
Spionaggio militare civile e commerciale
“An army without an allied army of spies is akin to a blind boxer. Since espionage is the invisible preparation for war, the need for preparation pushes every army to increase its own underground eyes. It is easy to surprise the urgency of espionage, and naive to reveal its undisputed honesty. Moreover, it is good to insist on some topics, and, first of all, on the fact that not only the recognized need makes the invisible army of spies less hateful, which every intelligent and organized nation launches in the neighboring country.”
