‎Fait prisonnier en 1940, Robert Christophe devait vivre cinq années de captivité en Allemagne. Officier de réserve, il allait passer successivement par trois Oflags, dont un de représailles et, à l'inverse des quelques 1.800.000 Français capturés par l'armée hitlérienne, il ne pouvait tromper sa patience derrière les barbelés en imaginant l'accueil que lui réserverait sa famille au retour. Les Christophe, en effet, avait commis le crime d'être juifs aux yeux d'Hitler. Occupant la France, les nazis avaient arrêté Mme Marcelle Christophe et sa fille, âgée de huit ans. Les traînant de prisons en camps de concentration, ils finirent par les déporter à Bergen-Belsen, le "Lazaret" hanovrien de la mort lente. Un témoignage fort, s'achevant sur une note d'espoir : tous trois revinrent vivants de cet enfer... ‎Un témoignage hors du commun sur la captivité en 1940-45. Homme de lettres et historien, Robert Christophe est mobilisé en août 1939, comme lieutenant. Après avoir vécu la "Drôle de Guerre" au camp de Mourmelon (Marne), il est affecté à l'intendance d'Amiens, lorsque la Wehrmacht attaque à l'Ouest, le 10 mai 1940. Une retraite épique le conduit avec ses camarades près de Nantes, où il est capturé le 21 juin. Commencent alors cinq longues années de privations et d'incertitudes, derrière les barbelés. D'abord interné dans le séminaire de Laval, le lieutenant Christophe est transféré au Stalag XIII D de Nuremberg, puis à l'Oflag XVII A d'Edelbach (Autriche). Sa captivité se termine au camp disciplinaire X C de Lübeck, d'où il part à la recherche de sa femme et de sa fille, déportées à Bergen-Belsen. Membre du réseau de résistance de l'Oflag XVII A, le lieutenant Christophe participe également à l'une des aventures les plus rocambolesques de la seconde guerre mondiale : la réalisation du film "Sous le Manteau", un véritable reportage sur l'existence dans les camps, réalisé avec des moyens de fortune, au nez et à la barbe des gardiens. Témoin sans concessions, Robert Christophe livre dans son journal une vision des années noires souvent étonnante, mais toujours pertinente. Désormais les frais d'envoi sont de 6 € seulement pour les livres jusqu'à 1 kg (colissimo suivi), pour la France métropolitaine.‎

Christopher Lloyd is een Brits kunsthistoricus en was van 1988 tot 2005 'Surveyor of The Queen's Pictures', curator van de schilderijen van de Royal Collection. Hij schreef monografie n over schilders, onder meer Camille Pissarro, offici le museumcatalogi en algemene overzichten van de Britse Royal Collection.
