Stuermer [Stürmer], Harry.
Zwei Kriegsjahre in Konstantinopel. Skizzen deutsch-jungtürkischer Moral und Politik.
Octavo. Pp. 262. In the original publisher's printed wrappers, front detached, spine bit worn. In a very good condition. Excellent copy, preserved entirely in the original state, unopened, untrimmed, practically unused. ~ First edition. Harry Stürmer was correspondent for the "Kölnischen Zeitung" in Turkey from 1915 to 1916. He gathered in this book his eyewitness accounts of the large scale Turkish atrocities against the Armenian people. It could not be published in Germany and therefore was published in Switzerland. It is said that the German Foreign Office directly bought the translation rights in an effort to hinder spreading the information further abroad. However, the English translation rights remained in other hands. It was soon translated into English as "Two war years in Constantinople: Sketches of German and young Turkish ethics and Politics" and published simultaneously in London & New York. Much good to the Armenian people's cause it did not do, however.
