As part of its effort to build a shopping mall on the William Center Tract next to the Manassas Battlefield National Park the Hazel/Peterson Companies commissioned historian James A. Schaefer to prepare a report on the Civil War Battle of Second Manassas. His report is part one of this book. In 1988 Schaeffer having realized that he had been duped by Hazel/Peterson reversed his position and joined the opposition to the mall. Part 2 of the book "Counting the Fallen" was written by James Rea; it attempts to determine whether soldiers killed in the battle were buried on the Williams Center tract. Part 3 examines the history of Theophile Poilpot's long-missing panorama painting of the battle. The book intended only for the local campaign to build the mall was not widely circulated and is now scarce. The book is clean and tight. First Edition. Paperback.
