La investigación traslada a la actualidad la institución jurídica del divorcio de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX en su contexto jurídico esforzándonos en que sea lo mas exacto y preciso posible. . El estudio esclarece que al existir una jurisdicción especial para el divorcio tenía operadores jurisdiccionales distintos a los de la jurisdicción común; y que pese a haber quedado consentida o ejecutoriada la sentencia que declaraba el divorcio los cónyuges tenían posteriormente la opción de reanudar sus relaciones conyugales como si nada hubiese ocurrido teniendo plena validez el mismo matrimonio. En este trabajo en la primera parte se ha hecho el resumen de casos concretos reconstruyéndolos en sus detalles instituciones jurídicas y aspectos más importantes; para luego en la segunda y tercera parte analizarlos conforme al derecho específico de la época la doctrina y la práctica ordinaria.
