Refusing to bear arms against his mother country, he was placed in charge of the ammunition in the main laager of General Piet Cronje, Deputy Commandant General of the Republic. Not only was he opposed to Kruger and Krugerism but he was incensed at being commandeered. He criticizes much of what he sees and hears about Cronje. Prior owner has affixed a pocket inside back board which contains a printed 2007 internet article which alleges that this book documents how 'the banksters' propped up Germany with supplies, thus extending WWI by three years. The article alleges that famous British WWI martyr Edith Cavell discovered this and was thus killed by a German firing squad, rather than being imprisoned for three months as was normal. A worthy copy of this intriguing work. Book

56 articles which appeared in the Vancouver, B.C. press from February 8, 1941 through February 28, 1942. The articles were commissioned by Colonel H.S. Tobin, Managing Director of Vancouver Breweries Limited and appeared in the Vancouver media. Given the dire situation faced by Britain, the directors of the brewery felt it best to set aside the greater portion of its advertising appropriation for patriotic, rather than regular business purposes and these articles were the result. Due to their popularity, they were reprinted in book form. Prior owner's name upon title page. Somewhat above-average external wear to pale green cardcovers which bear a two-inch opening between spine and top of back cover. A worthy copy of this fascinating look back to the early 1940s.
