A good copy with wear 1/4" lacking at the top of the spine and wear 1/8" lacking at the bottom of the spine the forecorners of the covers are slightly bumped and slightly worn and there is minor soil on the covers. The insignia of the Ordnance Dept. is brightly printed in gold on the front cover and short title and date are printed on a moderately faded spine. Covers slightly scuffed and dust-dulled with corners and front board fore-edge bumped and fraying. Spine with faded titles and rubbed endbands somewhat abraded with significant loss at the head. Preliminary and final leaves foxed with the interior text remaining tight and clean showing only some faint offsetting. Plates to the rear with more widespread foxing still light in colour. Cav." signed on front free endpaper; signed again on the title-page. amd possibly in the Preface. The 12th Indiana Cavalry later became the 127th Indiana Cavalry. The 12th was mustered in 1863 and saw a lot of action in Tennessee Alabama Louisiana and Georgia. His third inked name is clearly "Reed". He sometimes appears in the roster as "Read". According to the roster he was mustered out Mar. 31 1864; however the Lt. Col. lead a raid on the town of Vienna p now New Hope Alabama on May 29 1864. Col Reed was from Monticello White County IN. Wilcox Captain 327th Infantry Personnel Adjutant and Henry E. Hackney Captain 327th Infantry Adjutant Not in Dornbusch! Likely to have had only a limited number printed. This roster of officers compiled from records of the Personnel Office 327th Infantry was published to further cement the bonds of fellowship and friendship between the officers of this regiment to honor the memory of those to made the Supreme Sacrifice and to provide those officers who were deprived of the privilege of serving overseas with some idea of the regiment's engagements with the enemy. The Regiment was organized at Camp Gordon on 2 Sept. 1917. The Regiment participated in the St. Mihiel Offence and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive and claime the longest contiuous time that any regiment of the American Expeditionary Forces participated in any offensive. Format is approximately 5.875 inches by 9.125 inches. vi 116 wraps 8 fold-out maps some color at back. Some wear and soiling to covers. RESTRICTED marking crossed out and Stamp stating "Restricted Classification Removed Per Executive Order 10501" on front cover. Other stamps and cross outs on cover and title page. This pamphlet supersedes MS #T-22 "Peculiarities of Russian Warfare" published by the Historical Division Special Staff U.S. Army in June 1949. Pamphlet was prepared by a committee of former German officers at the EUCOM Historical Division Interrogation Enclosure Neustadt Germany in late 1947 and early 1948. All of these officers had extensive experience on the eastern front during the period 1941-45. The principal author commanded in succession a panzer division a corps a panzer army and an army group. The reader is reminded that publications in the GERMAN REPORTS SERIES were written by Germans from the German point of view. For instance the "Introduction" and "Conclusions" to Russian Combat Methods in World War II present the views of the German author without interpretation by American personnel. Throughout this pamphlet Russian combat methods are evaluated in terms of the German combat doctrine and Russian staff methods are compared to those of the German General Staff. Organization equipment and procedures of the German and Russian Armies differed considerably from those of the United States Army. Tactical example in the text have been carefully dated and an effort has been made to indicated the progress of the Russian Army in overcoming the weaknesses noted in the early stages of the war. In preparation of this revised edition the German text has been retranslated and certain changes in typography and chapter titles have been made to improve clarity. Devotes one page three photos to the first African American Aviation Squadron unit number not given to be located at Scott Field where the emphasis was on training in radio communication. This copy belonged to a white airman whose Radio Operators Course certificate is laid in on the page with his photo. 30 or so names and addresses of other airmen on the autograph pages at the end.
