Headquartered at Fort Bragg North Carolina it is the largest component of the United States Special Operations Command. It is an Army Service Component Command. Its mission is to organize train educate man equip fund administer mobilize deploy and sustain Army special operations forces to successfully conduct worldwide special operations. <br/>The US Army 528th Support Battalion. 528th Sustainment Brigade SO A is responsible for providing logistical medical signal and intelligence support for Army special operations forces worldwide in support of contingency missions and war fighting commanders. Headquartered at Fort Bragg North Carolina the 528th Sustainment Brigade SO A sets the operational level logistics conditions to enable Army Special Operation Forces ARSOF using multiple Support Operations teams and three battalions.<br/>The Support Operations teams embed each regional theaters' staff to support planning and coordination with theater Army U.S. Special Operations Command and U.S. Army Special Operations Command to ensure support during operations and training. Support Operations consists of four detachments: current operations which manages five geographically aligned ARSOF Liaison Elements ALEs a future operations detachment a commodity managers detachment and an ARSOF support operations element. The US Army 112th Special Operations Signal Battalion A specialize in communication employing innovative telecommunications technologies to provide Special Operations Joint Task Force SOJTF commanders with secure and nonsecure voice data and video services. The 112th's signals expertise allows ARSOF to "shoot move and communicate" on a continuous basis. Soldiers assigned to 112th are taught to operate and maintain a vast array of unique equipment not normally used by their conventional counterparts. To meet the needs of ARSOF the 112th deploys communications packages that are rapidly deployable on a moment's notice. Soldiers assigned to 112th are airborne qualified. This unit book highlights Company D 1st Battalion which had its graduation date on December 5 1968. Some members of the units names are circled or underlined. Major General Collins wrote to the Graduates of Basic Combat Training: "It is hoped that this book in the years to come will serves as a pleasant reminder to you of this brief period of your military service in training - a reminder also of the truth that soldiers are made not born. May your continuing duty insure that the defense structure of this country is always maintained at the highest degree of readiness." Basic Combat Training often known as "boot camp" is the introduction to Army service and where recruits learn the traditions tactics and methods of becoming a Soldier. Stiff card stock 8 inches by 5.25 inches folded in half resulting in four panels of 4 inches by 5.25 inches. Illustrated. Item has wear and soiling/staining with some creasing. Text and illustrations clear. One panel is devoted to the General Service Code for general signaling and between the Army and the Navy. It shows three figures with flags showing position a dot and a dash. All 26 letters and number 0 to 9 have the matching dots and dashes illustrated. A facing panel has the Two-Arm Semaphore Code with hand flags for short distance signaling within the Army. The reverse side has Letter codes and related information on both panels. Letter Codes used with both General Service and Two-Arm Semaphore Codes with information specific to Infantry Cavalry Field and Mountain Artillery and Coast Artillery Shore-Tug Signals. The final section is Conventional Visual Signals Both Codes. This is a handy pocket-sized reference. There was a fuller and full size War Department manual available at this time. United States Army 1863. One sheet of paper backed with an attached second sheet two horizontal folds one vertical fold fragile yet Very Good sheets separating at folds. light age toning. Discharge papers for Thomas Fulford a private in Company B 64th Regiment Infantry Indiana Volunteers dated Sept. 30 1863 at St. Louis Mo by reason of Surgeon's Certificate of Disability. In left margin handwritten in red ink "Phthisis-hereditary-developed by exposure. He is unfit for the Invalid Corps". Signed at bottom "By Order of Maj. Gen. Schofield" and then signed "J.K. Hudson" with more writing below illegible. Stamped in red ink "paid by Robert Smith St. Louis Oct. 2 1863 Paymaster U.S.A." Also another stamp faint with just the word Ohio at right side above top fold. Verso bears handwritten "Discharge Certificate of Thomas F. Fulford Late of Co. B 64th Regt. Indiana Vols. Infantry". Private Fulford went on to live to the age of 68 fathering 8 children. At his death in 1899 his obituary referred to him as "well known old soldier of Washington Township". Major General John McAllister Schofield 1831 -1906 held major commands during the Civil War and later served as U.S. Secretary of War under Presidents Andrew Johnson and Ulysses S.
