Third edition according to Howes M125 and the only edition with maps. He also notes 300 copies printed but only a few have been on the rare book market. AE locates only the 1960 Houston edition and only one copy of the 1886 edition in 1922. Eberstadt’s had a copy of the 1886 edition in 1954. In our copy there is a long presentation note to Essex Institute Salem Mass.: "With the compliments of the author and request that this narrative be filed among your records of the Civil War for the use not only of the reading public but for the information and benefit of the Historian and future generations." Graff 2621. Nicholson p.586. Nevins I p.126: "Important only because it recounts a singular and unknown event in an isolated region." Tis book includes eye-witness accounts of the battle at Old Mesilla the first clash in the far west between Union and Confederate forces. In July 1861 Texas Confederates hit the Union outpost at Fort Filmore 40 miles north of El Paso. Under the command of Major Isaac Lynde the fort was surrendered after very little resistance and McKee a young Union surgeon privately published this bitter account. The first edition was printed in very small quantities for friends. This edition is the best edition and a well written account. McKee added an index and two maps not found in the first or second editions. All are very rare. ‎Die Radierung von William Charles McNulty (1889-1963) ist am unteren Bildrand eigenhändig in Bleistift signiert, betitelt und als 2. Fassung von 50 Exemplaren bezeichnet. Auf der Rückseite des Blattes die Datierung März 1929 im Stempeldruck. Dargestellt ist der Grand Army Plaza in Manhattan (59. Strasse/Fifth Avenue) mit Blick auf das Plaza Hotel. Die Mitte des Platzes zeigt die Pulitzer Fontäne, die von Karl Bittners Bronzestatue der römischen Gottheit Pomona gekrönt ist. Im Hintergrund der Central Park mit den Gewässern "The Pond" und die Silhouette von New Yorks Upper Westside. - Das Blatt ist leicht schräg beschnitten, etwas fleckig und hat minimale Knickspuren. Auf der Rückseite an den oberen Blattecken Spuren alter Montage. Insgesamt sehr schönes und ausdruckstarkes Exemplar.‎

‎Partly printed form 8 1/2 x 14 inches completed in a clerical hand and signed by McPherson; the form was printed for the Mobile & Ohio Railroad the notation for the "Memphis & Charleston R.R." added in manuscript and was also signed by a foreman and seven laborers for completed work. An Ohio native McPherson finished first in West Point's class of 1853 and served in the Corps of Engineers until the outbreak of war. His meteoric rise took him from lieutenant of engineers in August 1861 to the command of a division in October 1862; along the way he served as Grant's chief engineer superintendent of railroads in West Tennessee and as a brigade commander. He commanded a corps at Vicksburg and Sherman's Army of the Tennessee in the Atlanta campaign where he was killed 22 July 1864. "Sherman's tears rolled through his beard and down on the floor when he viewed the body of his friend laid upon a door torn from its hinges and improvised as a bier" Generals in Blue. ‎Psi-Agenten - Die Manipulation unseres Bewußtseins Psi-Agenten ist weltweit das allererste Buch, das sich ausführlich mit der Anwendung paranormaler/paraphysikalischer Techniken im militärischen und nachrichtendienstlichen Bereich befaßt, mit dem Einfluß des Bewußtseins auf andere Bewußtseine und Objekte (also auch auf Waffen). Ich befaßte mich schon in der Zeit des Kalten Krieges Anfang der 80er Jahren mit dem Einsatz sog. Para-Waffen (in meinem inzwischen vergriffenen Bestseller »Geheimwaffe Psi«, Scherz-Verlag), als die meisten meiner damaligen Kritiker und späteren Imitatoren meine Ideen und Theorien als Hirngespinste bezeichneten. Aufgrund mühsamer Recherchen gelangte ich damals schon in den Besitz streng geheimer Unterlagen amerikanischer Nachrichtendienste, die entsprechende Aktivitäten in der damaligen Sowjetunion enthielten. Durch komplizierte Geheimkontakte mit damaligen KGB-Kontaktpersonen einschlägiger Forschungsabteilungen in Nowosibirsk wurden die bei mir aus den USA eintreffenden diesbezüglichen Informationen weiter bestätigt. Sowjetunion gab es während der vergangenen 50 Jahre eine geheime Psi-Forschung, die mit hohem finanziellen Aufwand betrieben wurde. Bei den von den Streitkräften und Geheimdiensten dieser Länder organisierten und kontrollierten Forschungsprojekten rangierten die Überwachung und Manipulation des menschlichen Bewußtseins an erster Stelle. Priorität hatte Telepathie, Hellsehen auf Distanz (sog. Fernwahrnehmung), Vorauswissen (sog. Präkognition) sowie die gesamten Skala psychokinetischer Phänomene, d.h. die Einwirkung des Bewußtseins auf Materie. Heute sprechen amerikanische und russische Geheimdienstoffiziere ganz offen über die in ihren Ländern entwickelten Psi-Techniken, über unglaubliche Experimente, die deshalb so gefährlich sind, weil ihre Anwendung in aller Heimlichkeit erfolgt und weil es gegen sie vorerst keine Abwehrmöglichkeiten gibt. Daß diese Experimente auch heute noch weitergeführt werden, versicherte mir noch im November 1992 mein russischer Gewährsmann Eduard Naumow, Rußlands bekanntester Parapsychologe. Erst vor kurzem fiel er einem feigen Mordanschlag zum Opfer! Welche Informationen er mit ins Grab nahm, ist nicht bekannt. Psi-Agenten ist das erste umfassende »Weißbuch« über potentielle Psi-Waffen und Psycho-Strategien, die im nächsten Jahrhundert voll zum Einsatz kommen könnten.
