‎Du débarquement de Provence, en août 1944, à la capitulation de l'Allemagne en mai 1945, l'histoire de cette chevauchée héroïque de l'armée de la revanche aux ordres d'un chef hors du commun, Jean de Lattre de Tassigny. — Le 15 août 1944, une imposante armada navale se présente devant les rivages de Provence. La 1ère Armée du général de Lattre – l'Armée de la Revanche – revient sur le sol de France. Elle entreprend de libérer le pays : Toulon, Marseille, Lyon, Dijon, Belfort sont les étapes d'une chevauchée victorieuse à laquelle se joignent bientôt cent trente mille volontaires issus des maquis. Sous l'impulsion d'un chef hors du commun, l'amalgame se fait entre ces jeunes sans expérience et les vieux briscards issus de tous les horizons de l'Empire. L'hiver de 1944 améne les Français jusqu'au Rhin au prix de combats sanglants. Le printemps de 1945 les verra atteindre les rives du Danube. ‎Une unité créée en mai 1943 à Staouéli pour des opérations non conventionnelles, le 1er bataillon de choc est avant tout un réservoir d'agents des services spéciaux d'Alger, destinés à être infiltrés, débarqués ou parachutés en France occupée. C'est aussi une unité de type para-commando composée de volontaires aux multiples capacités opérationnelles. Ces hommes qui seront de tous les combats jusqu'en 1945 ont versé leur sang pour libérer la France. Le 1er bataillon de choc s'illustrera ensuite en Indochine, puis en Algérie, intégré au 11e choc. Il sera dissous en décembre 1963. Le chef de bataillon Raymond Muelle fait revivre au lecteur, par le petit bout de la lorgnette, l'épopée d'une unité mythique à laquelle il a appartenu, et l'invite à découvrir les facéties et tribulations d'un bataillon dont les hommes n'avaient décidément rien de conventionnel ! Désormais les frais d'envoi sont de 6 € seulement pour les livres jusqu'à 1 kg (colissimo suivi), pour la France métropolitaine.‎
