When the supply of water falls short, water crisis begins. Recognising the importance of drinking water and non-availability of substitutes at the global level, access to water has become a fundamental right of people. Water scarcity has the potential to stifle developmental efforts and water has always been a scarce commodity in Chennai City owing to its rapid growth of population, consecutive droughts, lack of efficient water conservation measures and poor water management.
