Il est le théoricien de "la loi d'airain des salaires" et l'un des inspirateurs de l'auteur de cet essai, Eduard Bernstein (1850-1932), homme politique et théoricien de la social-démocratie et inspirateur du Parti social-démocrate d'Allemagne (SPD). Bel exemplaire, très bien relié, très frais avec sa première de couverture conservée.

Johann Friedrich Blumenbach was a German naturalist and anthropologist whose work on comparative anatomy greatly impacted the development of anthropology as a science in the 19th century. He was invited to examine Egyptian mummies at the British Museum. He did six dissections. "Blumenbach. . believed he could deduce all manner of details – race sex and beauty – from the smooth calciferous plates of the human skull. What he bel`ieved he found in terms of racial types was decidedly intermediate. brossura "I miei incontri con Marx sono avvenuti in momenti cruciali della mia vita. Antifascismo militante (Padova 1941-42); problemi della ricostruzione (45-50); crisi universitaria (1968...). Ne sono sempre rimasto affascinato, ma non mai convinto...". È Bobbio stesso a sintetizzare, in una pagina magistrale scritta nel 1969,i termini in cui si configura il suo corpo a corpo teorico col pensiero di Marx, lungo più di cinquant'anni di riflessione. Affascinato dalla lettura marxiana della storia "dal punto di vista degli oppressi", Bobbio è stato al tempo stesso strenuo avversario del messianismo rivoluzionario che la caratterizzava. Marx è vivo, ma questo non vuol dire che sia valido: non si può prescindere dalla critica di Marx al sistema capitalistico se si vuole comprendere appieno la contemporaneità; il fallimento dei socialismi reali non equivale a una sentenza di morte per il pensiero di Marx. Non ci si può esimere dunque, dal fare i conti con quello che a tutti gli effetti deve essere considerato, al pari di Hobbes o di Hegel, un "classico", rifuggendo però ogni sacralizzazione o la tentazione, divenuta talora quasi un imperativo, di commentare "Marx con Marx" o con alcuni scrittori autorizzati.

Roberto Burle Marx (São Paulo 1909 - Rio de Janeiro 1994) può essere considerato uno dei maggiori esponenti del movimento artistico brasiliano del Novecento, rappresentante di quell'architettura del paesaggio che era anche peculiare espressione di un'arte globale. I suoi progetti e le sue realizzazioni muovono da un'originale interpretazione della natura tropicale, inserendosi all'interno di una prospettiva di forte rinnovamento nella costruzione dell'architettura del giardino e di una nuova coscienza del paesaggio. Autore di oltre mille progetti nel suo paese e in diverse parti del mondo, Burle Marx mette in scena, attraverso una singolare capacità espressiva, una moderna estetica del paesaggio. Profondamente radicata nella realtà brasiliana, la sua intensa attività multidisciplinare viene indagata in queste pagine da studiosi europei e brasiliani: un itinerario che si compie tra forme, colori, tessiture del giardino e dominio paesaggistico della città, tra la scala minore di un'estetica pittoresca, associata a un impiego rigoroso delle essenze autoctone, e la grande scala di un park system teso a ridefinire la nozione stessa di spazio pubblico e l'identità urbana. Un programma ambizioso, che si estende fino a comprendere la dimensione visionaria di un progetto territoriale ideato in virtù di processi ecologici per la difesa del paesaggio e dell'ambiente.
