"Italian Divisionists - named after the painting technique they used namely the division of colour through individualized brushstrokes - were active in Italian avant-garde art during the 1890s and early 1900s roughly 1891-1907. Divisionist painting technique was marked by the juxtaposition of strokes of colour pigment to create the optical effect of intense single colours.
