‎Mittermaier (1787-1867), der bedeutendste Strafprozessualist im 19. Jahrhundert u. berühmtester Schüler von Feuerbach, hatte einen Lehrstuhl an den Universitäten zu Landshut, Bonn und Heidelberg. Sein grosses Werk "Das Deutsche Strafverfahren" begründete die aussergewöhnliche Stellung von Mittermaier in der Geschichte des deutschen Strafprozesses. Mit Mittermaier setzten sich endgültig die Errungenschaften des modernen Strafverfahrens durch: Anklagegrundsatz, unabhängige Staatsanwaltschaft, Öffentlichkeit und Mündlichkeit des Verfaherns, freie Beweiswürdigung. Die besondere Bedeutung von Mittermaier liegt darüberhinaus in seinem rechtsvergleichenden Ansatz. Kein deutscher Jurist des 19. Jahrhunderts genoss ein nur annähernd so hohes internationales Ansehen wie Mittermaier. - Gebräunt, beide Titel mit kleinen Sammlerstempeln, 1 auch mit Namenseintrag.‎
