This is a fictionalized version of 3 days of the crime's trial from the perspective of the prosecutor. In reality the Hall-Mills case was a national media sensation. For months front-page articles appeared daily in the New York Times and many other papers. Initially no one was charged but four years later in 1926 authorities reopened the case. Hall's widow and her two brothers were arrested and charged with the murders. Their trial was held in Somerville N.J. and it was spectacular. The media again went ballistic.
