In particolare il volume, dopo una breve capitolo dedicato alla storia dell'araldica nella Chiesa, entra nel vivo della trattazione con due capitoli focalizzati sull'araldica intesa come linguaggio, prendendo in esame prima la "grammatica" e poi la "sintassi". Segue infine, come naturale completamento del lavoro, il "glossario" che raccoglie i principali termini del linguaggio del blasone e degli stemmi, con particolare attenzione ai simboli cristiani. Lo scopo dagli autori non è stato dunque quello di proporre un testo sul tema dell'araldica eccelsiastica, completo di informazioni storiche, tecniche ed artistiche; il loro fine è stato piuttosto quello di aiutare chi desidera approfondire ed usare tale linguaggio per capire, leggere ed interpretare gli stemmi ecclesiastici, oppure per comporre nuovi blasoni in modo corretto.
